4.0 out of 5 stars Dreamy 13 Oct 2011
By Tenchi
I bought this from the Amazon seller LambaTek who I would recommend, quick replies to all messages, although it was difficult to use my credit card with them as I would always recommend with the safety measures that come with credit card over debit cards.

Onto the Cintiq, be prepared for the sheer size, I was working with a 21" NEC and a A4 Wacom and had plenty of space for extra books, laptop etc... I have limited space none now ^^ I had to get some side tables for more space.

I would also point out, I have done my research and there are few desks that state they can take a load of more than 20Kg, so make sure your desk can handle the weight. This Cintiq is 30kg! Add to my 10Kg NEC and the peripherals, I had to find the right desk.

The Cintiq is really quite amazing, it does everything I expect and the ability to hang it off the desk caps it off. I am not bothered about not being able to rotate it like its sister 21" Cintiq, but if you work with Photoshop CS4 or above or Painter it won't present a problem. I am taking a star away simply for the price. It's a niché market maybe, but with "similar" products like the tablets I hope those add the features of Wacom's products in the near future. Wacom will then have the competition this market requires.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Piece Of Kit 2 Nov 2011
I'll second the recommendation for Lambda-Tek in another review -- my 24HD came from them at an unbeatable price and next day delivery. I'll echo the caveats about the size and weight of the unit -- I managed to get it up a flight of stairs to my studio and set up myself, but I felt like I'd had a bit of a work-out by the time I'd done.

It's also slightly disappointing that you can only lock the arms in the upright position, or lower the display all the way down. There are two hidden extendable feet that provide an intermediate height which I find I prefer, but at this price point, even a small niggle is worth noting. Also worth mentioning is the built-in fan. The plus side is that it makes the unit cooler to the touch in use than the 21UX, but the fan is audible. If you have any other noise in the room (radio, music, other people) then I doubt you'll even notice it, but if your habit is to work in silence (unlikely, but not impossible, I suppose) then you might find it annoying.

On the plus side: the thing feels HUGE, and looks fantastic. It's smooth and responsive to work on, and the ability to fit a full-size keyboard underneath it (you can invoke an on-screen keyboard from one of the three dedicated buttons at the top of the unit) addresses one of my primary niggles with the 21UX. I never used to rotate my old 21UX but the loss of that ability can be offset by programming one of the two control wheels for document rotation in applications that support it (i.e.: everything except Illustrator).

The ability to call up an on-screen overlay of the programmed functions is also a god-send -- you no longer have to try and compromise on a standardised set of shortcuts across all your applications or struggle to remember what button you've programmed for 'Lasso' in Photoshop or 'Pen' in Manga Studio...

The massive surround gives plenty of room to lean on the unit and completes the feeling of working at actual drawing board. If you can find the money, I can't recommend this item highly enough. I'm really only knocking a star off for the astronomical price but given that you'd have paid this much for the 21UX a year ago, even that seems a little churlish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a fantastic thing but watch out, it's big 12 Oct 2011
Anyone who designs professionally and uses Wacom products knows how well they build their products.
This beast is the flagship product of Wacom. 24" HD screen combined with Intuos 4 tech plus a brilliantly designed, adjustable stand makes for the ultimate drawing / design tool.
It just makes it all so easy.
One word of caution. Check the measurements against your desk space. The whole unit is a lot bigger than my 27" iMac and it has a monster footprint. However the keyboard can sit neatly underneath and so it's not so bad.
Also have someone around to help when you take delivery. It takes 2 to carry the box and also 2 people to haul it out of the box as it is very heavy.
Not cheap or small but that's not the point. Quite simply it is the best design tool you will ever find. The elegance and sheer wow factor of its appearance is a bonus.
