5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Mr. T. Edwards on 18 Feb 2004
Format: Audio CD
Strangely enough, I bought this album over a year ago and have only recently begun to realise what a gem this recording actually is. I got it at a time when I was still fairly new to what electronica had to offer. Since then I've been listening to a lot of modern jazz and other sorts of electronica/dance like Aphex Twin. The other day, wanting something more relaxing to listen to, I put this CD on and heard it in its entirety for the first time. I was astonished! It sounded like a completely different album. It is now what I consider a perfect example of what I imagine when I think of electronica.

It's lush, complex, mesmerizing and hard to prise out from the CD player when you've really listened to it all the way through.

Another Sublime Release from Monolake 25 Feb 2002
By HERNAN GONZALEZ - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
As there are so many techno dub artists nowadays who follow the path of Chain Reaction's pioneers, Monolake takes it's music to a different and absolutely personal style. This CD is not as dense or dark as Gravity, but mantains the cool and nocturnal feeling. Again with loads of fresh and innovative rythms, with percussion that surrounds you coming from everywhere. Some more processed voice samples than in Gravity, more like the Hong Kong days. I am aware that Gerhard Behles has not participated at all in this production, so this music is representing Rob Henke's ideas only. Some tracks are a litlle faster and groovy than the average Monolake. Although Cinemascope is not as profound as Gravity, it surely displays technical and compositional improvements that show that Monolake's evolution line is still going upwards. Nothing sounds like Monolake, and if there is something that does, please tell me.
Aurally pleasing 23 Nov 2010

Innovative, warm, pleasing, lively, not boring! It's a few years old, but still excellent electronic dance music. Great to listen to in the car.
