Product Description

One kind deed can change your life forever…

Brynn Tomlin could never afford to follow her heart. But when she sees a stranger shivering in the snow outside of the college library, an inexplicable urge leads her to buy him a hot cup of coffee. It’s just a small act of kindness, a few words of conversation. Brynn should be focusing on her finals, after all, not on the man who looked up at her gratefully with piercing blue eyes.

He could have been anyone - a janitor on break, a graduate student, a bum. But the man standing outside in the cold turns out to be Dr. Eliot Herceg, one of the most brilliant minds in mathematics and heir to a fortune. After years of reclusive isolation, he now finds his heart awakening to the kind girl whose name he does not know.

Brynn has spent her life trying to forget her desires, and Eliot’s deep wounds have taken nearly a decade to heal. After so much hurt, will either of them be able to open their hearts again?

"Before my mother died, she told me stories. I sat on her lap and listened to her spin golden fairy tales through the air. We never had much, but I didn’t notice the cracks in our plaster walls when she talked about Cinderella putting on her crystal slippers and waltzing all night with Prince Charming.

“Once upon a time”…the stories always begin the same way, but from these beginnings my mother wove new tales that danced in all directions of the compass. She told me stories of castles and dragons, stories of men who flew above the clouds to reach the sun and gods who rained jealous fury upon their rivals. Stories of lovers whose passion rose above earthly desire and changed their fate to a different end than the world had meant for them. Stories of hope and of death.

None of those stories were true, but mine is."

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful slow burn romance 27 Aug 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Me, Cinderella? New Adult Romance Aubrey Rose.

ARC supplied by Netgalley.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel, I was drawn by the beautiful cover, something I usually don't even look at, and it was classed as New Adult romance. I thought that would mean, hopefully, a good story - a romance to savour and enjoy - and not one of the thinly veiled sex scenes parodying as novels that proliferate the market. I like, no - love - erotica but sometimes I just want to read some romance, some characters with a real story that don't simply take one look and rip each others clothes off :0. Well, Me, Cinderella? filled my expectations and delivered much more. Its a beautifully written slow burn romance. We can feel Brynn and Eliot's attraction for each other right from the start, but they are both cautious, to the point Brynn gives him a false name and he exercises his usual prudent avoidance of too much personal detail. Brynn doesn't know who he is when they first meet, and is shocked when she sees him overseeing the test for the prestigious internship in Hungary she really wants to win, and he's shocked to see Brynn there.
Things heat up once they get to Hungary. Eliot is still telling himself she's just a student, even as he makes arrangements for her to travel in a private plane, and buys her clothes suitable for the weather. They become closer, but each are so guarded because of past troubles that its a beautiful, slow dance. Brynn realises much sooner how much Eliot means to her, but she is scared he doesn't feel the same. He's older, and has a totally different life and upbringing to her, and she can't see why he'd want her.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 12 Jun 2014
By Donna
Format:Kindle Edition
Brynn is in college studying maths. She meets this guy, outside a coffee shop who looks down on his luck so she buys him a cup of coffee, only to discover that he is younger than she thought and has these striking blue eyes. She soon discovers he isn't a bum like she thought. She later on discovers that he is a mathematician legend and is in charge of selecting students to attend an academy in Hungary. He is a prince of sort with money and people in Hungary know him and his family.

Bryann wants to go so much. Its where her mother died and she sees it as an opportunity to go and see her grave. Eliot is a complicated guy, widowed when his wife died in a accident. He can't seem to move on so when Bryann starts freeing feelings in him he didn't think existed since his wife died, he doesn't know how to cope so he tries to distance himself from her. Bryann and Eliot both have complicated lives.

I loved the storyline and really got into the story from start until finish. I found some of the mathematics parts complicated and hard to read as i didn't understand it but there were very few moments like that and Bryann and Eliot's story was brilliant to read. Eliot was so stubborn a lot of the times and he kept making me angry but it kept me wandering what was going to happen between Bryann and Eliot.

Brilliant read and i'm now so excited to read Broken prince, book 2 and find out what is going to happen between these two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric and beautifully written 2 Mar 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This was a complete surprise to me. At first I wondered if I'd enjoy it as it is very different from the other books in the billionaire box set I'd purchased, but it gripped me completely after the first few pages. The characters are very well developed, the setting beautifully described, the writing lyrical and compelling. Achingly tender in places, I confess to shedding more than one tear. My first book by this author, but most certainly won't be my last.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just Beautiful. 8 Jan 2014

4 Stars.

Me, Cinderella? is one of my favorite genres of book, in that it is a teacher/student romance, I am not sure why I have such a great big soft spot for this sort of story, but I do and I loved this one.

What makes it even better is the fact that although we are talking about two very damaged souls in Eliot and Brynn, the issues they have with themselves and each other are relatable. You won't find any insta-love, boffing from the first meeting or kinkiness within this book (not that I dislike this, but it is nice to have some variation once in a while).

What you will find is a beautifully written book; some of the prose is almost poetic in its writing, and Aubrey's descriptive style brings everything to life in vivid detail. From the ice flowing on the river Danube, to the death of a deer by a Hunter's arrow, it was all too easy to see in the mind's eye and made it quite an emotional roller-coaster for me as the reader.

The book is set partly in California, but mostly in Hungary, and this was another BIG plus, it makes a change to read a story of this genre based in Europe rather than just the USA.

Eliot *sigh*, reminded me a little of a certain Professor Emerson, however where I have in parts found him quite a cold fish, Eliot Herceg is anything but. In fact this is a man who is really in touch with his emotions; he blames himself for the loss of his wife 10 years previous and as such doesn't believe he deserves happiness due to it.

Brynn is also grieving; the loss of her mother at an early age, and coming to Hungary for study has opened up all the scars from that loss. As well as dealing with her blossoming emotions towards Eliot.
