Great mix,

This review is from: Cigarettes and Alcohol Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
This is a great mix of old and new. You'll recognise almost all the tracks even if you don't know the title of the song. There is hardly a bad song and on a compilation of 40 songs thats isn't bad. From the Jam to Oasis, there is something here for everyone. Definately buy it!

Let's rock n' roll,
By theinfluence@hotmail.com (Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Cigarettes and Alcohol Vol. 2 (Audio CD)
Cigarettes and Alcohol, the title of the 1994 Oasis hit, is undoubtedly an apt title for this album, which emphasises the laddish, rocky bands that predominate over 2CDs. It opens with 'Cum on feel the Noize[sic]', a typical, loud Oasis(ish) tune. The album also includes contributions from The Jam, The Clash, MSP, Thin Lizzy, Slade etc. Most of the album maintains a high tempo, high velocity sound, although there are notable omissions and strange choices. Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over', although a decent song, certainly doesn't belong here. Likewise, the appalling JJ72 shouldn't feature. Amazingly, neither The Who nor Led Zeppelin are present at all. Mind you the album manages to squeeze 35 years of (generally) high-quality music onto the double album, from Mott the Hoople, up to Wheatus. Britpop features strongly, but there are representations from the 70s,80s and 90s. My verdict? Worth buying, if only for 'Whiskey in the Jar'
