very dissapointing 26 July 2002
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
the first 2 compilations in this series were fantastic, but they really ran out of idea's with this one, it's absolute rubbish!! such a pity too, the first 2 were stuck in my CD changer for months but this one didn't last a day. There were so many great tracks they could have put on here to continue the theme, what happened??

I absolutely loved the first Cigarettes & Alcohol compilation, and I also bought the second, which - while not quite up to the same standards - continued the format of classic indie/rock with a few recent additions sandwiched in between.

This one, well... I knew all but 2 songs listed (The Stranglers and the Pogues), and most of the songs were released this year. This is just "Shine 2002" with a couple of old (and relatively obscure) songs thrown in. Don't get me wrong - this is a decent album. I like a good many of the songs listed, but I also own half of them, and have heard the rest so often, i'd risk losing my mind if I played the CD from start to finish.

The conclusion? Buy if you want to get into modern alternative music, or you know you like the bands - DON'T buy if you're looking for more of the same classic stuff.

A disapointing followup 12 April 2006
Format:Audio CD
In comparison with the first two compilations in this series, this has been a disappointment. The 70s and 80s theme has been blown out the window, and replaced with total rubbish. Save your money and don't buy this.
