Product Description

Product Description

This is a lavishly illustrated exploration and celebration of real cider and its close cousin perry, for both new converts to cider and more traditional cider-drinkers. With a modern, engaging design, a sharp focus and with fascinating detail, this books aims to appeal to the growing number of cider drinkers, and to persuade drinkers of characterless industrial brands of the merits of the real thing. Cider showcases the best of the British craft cider revolution, with features on some of the characters involved in cider - and perry-making and articles on the history of cider and perry, noteworthy cider pubs, making your own cider, cooking with cider, cider's place in British folklore and foreign ciders.

Cider 22 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
A great introduction to the wonderful world of cider! Brilliant photgraphy by Mark Bolton, and the various authors give a good insight into everything, from the history of cidermaking to meeting some of the interesting characters who produce great cider (and Perry).Just one small criticism - my favourite cider makers the Hecks Family's surname is mispelt. It's Hecks, not Heck! But great coverage and photos of the boys and their craft! The book also has a good section highlighting cider and perry making throughout Europe. All in all, a great book for anyone wanting to explore the world of cider, and also an enjoyable read for the dedicated enthusiast!

By Mr. A. C. Thorne VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Well its true, he did! Let me explain. I bought this title for my 22 year old son who just can't follow his dear old dad into an understanding of the joys of real ale, preferring as he does the joys of English Apple juice fermented by little beasties. He read the book and his interest has deepened to such a degree that he is interested in the origins of his favourite tipple - a healthy sign I think. He has recently started swilling it round his mouth when tasting a new brew (sorry I have just been told to call it a vintage). Where will all this enthusiasm end. On a more serious note for the CAMRA member who wants to diversify into the heritage of cider, this is a good place to start.
