Having just been persuaded to take on the position of Churchwarden I stumbled on this book by chance and thought 'Survival Guide' sounded just what was needed. It is helpful on the minefield of paperwork and clerical procedures but the more practical things are lacking such as when the Paschal candle should be where/when to be sure to set up Easter gardens and when they must be removed etc etc etc.
Maybe there is another book out there?
This will be useful but not as useful as I hoped.

A modern comprehensive guide for all Churchwardens, both new and those of long standing. Well writen and easy to read, you'll find yourself dipping in to this useful book more often than you thought you would. Twenty-five years experience in Church matters and many years on the PCC, a first venture as Churchwarden made me wonder what I had let myself in for. But as soon as I opened this book, I knew that I had found a reliable companion.
It's very well worth buying if you are contemplating the post of Churchwarden in your Church, you'll find it will answer your questions and tell you in no nonsense terms what you are likely to be letting yourself in for and make it not so daunting as you'd at first thought.

I have recently been invited to become a Church Warden this book has helped me to get a better understanding of what is required. The style is both informative and practical without getting to involved in some of the ancient legalistics that make other books in this area heavy going.
