So it was all the fault of the Americans! As Churchill battled to save the country in 1941, he was also battling to save his family and on both fronts the Americans were proving to be disastrous friends. They made love not war falling into bed with Winston's daughter-in-law while vowing never to get dragged into a shooting war with the Gremans, "Churchill's Hour is extremely well written and I particularly liked the way in which Churchill's relationship with his butler, Sawyers, is drawn. Yet it is the relationship with the Americans that made the book for me. It's easy to believe that the British and Americans allies were always close, but Dobbs shows how behind the scenes they often fought like cats and dogs. I enjoyed his other two Churchill books, but this one is the best of the bunch. A cracking good read
