Book Description

23 Mar 2012
Church attendance in the west has declined in recent years, but decline has been accompanied by growth in spiritual exploration, a desire for spirituality, faith, even Jesus - all without the church. Experience, history and the New Testament suggest this desire is ill-founded. It is through the church, the Bible suggests, that the Kingdom comes. How can we find a wider vision of the Kingdom and the church's role. Kelly explores four of the 'brilliant ideas' inherent in God's design of the church. God works through his people, and the church trains and equips; the church is Spirit-driven, and spiritual formation is central to God's mission; the church's task force transforms the world through acts of love and service; the church is the rainbow-clothed Bride of Christ, one global family, a reconciling model for the world. Can we break out of the greyness of our church experience to discover the riot of colour God intended? Is there a route back to the brilliance of God's plan?

BRILLIANT ACTUALLY ..... Kelly combines the keen insight of a theologian, the eloquence of a poet and the experience of a missionary to produce an inspiring and compelling vision of God's intention for the Church. Buy, read it, wonder afresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant about the beautiful thing Christ loves! 11 April 2012
By J. DOUGLAS TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Gerard Kelly creates powerful, compelling pictures of God's heartbeat for church. This title will undoubtedly gain great uptake through Spring Harvest circulation, and rightly so. It's singularly the freshest read on church in the market right now. The colour and vitality that it repaints for the often grey-pallette experience that church life can evoke, is radical and precious. It has a rich usefulness as a reader, resource book and-or guide for small group useage. It is well researched, moving and brilliantly written.

Kelly's poetic-theology will invite you into the dance of God's Holy Spirit. Fresh and beautiful in its invitation into the life of God. Bright, vibrant and powerful. Top class!
