Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
We are so disappointed in this toy. As is often the case, looked great on the packaging and we thought it would be ideal for our 3 boys of 5, 3 and 2 - all 3 of them love trains. When we started putting it together the doubt crept in, the pieces were REALLY hard to click into place (and my husband is excellent at putting things together and DIY etc), had to put a lot of force into it. Then the actual fun part was NOT fun, there is no WAY a 3, 4 or even 5 year old could get this train to go around the track as it's meant to. The boys have been pretty much ignoring it since we produced it a few days ago. I would not recommend this toy to anyone and I will definitely not buy any chuggington stuff - ever again!

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I bought the item on Christmas for my 5 year old boy. He was ober excited to see the item. The toy is very durable and felt value for money.

Assembly is bit time consuming. Nearly took 30 mins to assemble in place. Compared to Scalextric I felt it is time consuming which I can put in place within 10 mins. Once all in place it takes a while to master the technique in getting the trains rolling across the whole track. LIke my previous reviewer, my son got frustrated (inluding me) at the beginning. However, a second go placing the track at right flat floor, helped us master the trick.

It needs bit of a strength to turn the lever which I would say may be difficult for a 5 year boy.

Pros,
1. steady and strong
2. fun to get the engines running and a nice time pass

Cons,
1. the liver comes off after many turns if not turned with the right pressure.
2. assembly
3. all Chuggington Die-cast train doesnot work on track.. few works

Overall I recommend, but with a note to say that it needs adult assistance even for a 5 year old.

Really Poor Product 16 May 2012

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This toy is complete rubbish. It was brought as a gift for our two boys aged two and four and a half. I was not expecting the two year old to be able to use it but thought that as it said 3+ on the box it might be able to be used by the older boy. I can't even get it to work properly and I'm 39! After assembling it (not that easy) you have to turn the handle round with one hand very fast, then with the other hand (whilst turning the handle) press the button to release the train. The train barely makes it up the first hill, let alone having enough energy to make it all the way round the remainder of the track. There's no way a small child could do this on their own and get any fun out of it. My four and a half year old said to me "Daddy, the shop is very silly to sell this toy". Absolutely.

Wise to spend your money elsewhere!
We bought this thinking it looked great. It was hard to put together, and it takes up LOTS of space, yet is the sort of toy you can't just disassemble at the end of the day, so,... Read more

Do not buy!!!!!!!!
We could not put it together on Christmas day! Huge disappointment. We managed to click pieces together since, but our 3 year old son is not strong enough to work it by himself. Read more

Awful.
As other reviewers have noted, this set requires adult strength to assemble. That would be fine if the track remained sturdy during play. Read more

Agree with all the 1 Star reviews!
Whilst I cannot agree that the track is difficult to assemble, the mechanism to make the trains go around the track is a complete nonsense! Read more
