5.0 out of 5 stars Sum 41 kick some serious ASS!!! 31 Oct 2004
Format:Audio CD
This is the fourth album released by the Canadians Sum41, and its probably the best. It keeps the better more rock sounds of DTLI but also has some really good, catchy, more punk like songs like in AKNF. Some songs are sheer genius, like 'No Reason' which is a great way to start the album, very good, fast, very rock, VERY GOOD! Other good songs are 'We're All To Blame', 'Angels With Dirty Faces' 'Some Say' 'Welcome To Hell' 'Pieces' and 'Noots', hell there all brilliant. In my opinion this is the best Sum 41 album to date, it has fast, it has slow and blends them both fantastically. The lyrics aswell are very good, ive taken notice to them more than the previous albums. You HAVE to buy this album. The 'making of' video if you put it on your computer is hillarious. This is pure Sum 41, just buy people, you should'nt be reading just click buy now. bye bye

5.0 out of 5 stars New sound for sum41 30 Oct 2004
Format:Audio CD
When you first listen to the album you may be a bit sceptical but stick with it and it turns into a true masterpiece. The songs are longer and meaningful with great lyrics from Derek and blindin guitar from Dave. It is heavier than "all killa" but if you have "Does this look infected" it should prepare you for Chuck. The best songs are No reason, Open your eyes, Pieces, I'm not the one and Angels with dirty faces. So in all I think the change is for the better, this Album really ROCKS! If your a true fan you will love it!But also if you thought sum41 were to punk then this album definatly proves you wrong! BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars METALLY 11 Dec 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is an amazin album.
but before i start i have to say that people who buy this because they like punk and sum 41 do punk DON'T. It is not punk at all
It is more metal then anythin else. But for people who like the best of both worlds this is an amazin album an is well worth your money. the second and third songs(no reason and all to blame) are more metal then anyother track on the album but the best tracks have to be No solution and open your eyes. In conclusion a very good album and is 5 out 5 easy.
BEAR WITH THE ALBUM THOUGH. IT WILL GROW ON YOU WITH MORE LISTENING

Their last album was good, but this is excellent. It's a significant step up in maturity from their last album, both in approach and in musicality. The guitar and vocal harmonies are outstanding in places, and complement the more dark and serious lyrics. What struck me is a Blondie-esque tendency to start a song with a blinding bit of guitar work, change tempo to start the lyrics, and then work the intro theme back into the song at a later time - listen to "88" for a great example of this.

All in all, a slice of solid guitar-based musicality, with a serious background of social-issues-based lyrics. Probably nearer to thrash or rock than it is to punk, I'd say, but I'm no music critic, so feel free to disagree. Darn good to put on if you've got work to do, and need to keep your energy levels up. A cracking album from the Canadian quartet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth The Fuss 11 April 2005
Format:Audio CD
this is an amazing album that defines this generation in pretty much the same way Oasis did with "Definatly Maybe". Every song perfectly captures a different aspect of youth in todays world - yet the album is also very retro and traditional to rock principles. Yet completely different from pretty much everything else out there...
comes with a book of the lyrics and grey cover instead of blue....3 bonus tracks altho Under the Gun is the version without build up at the start

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute brilliance 26 April 2007
By Tay
Format:Audio CD
I don't know if you've noticed, but after every album, it gets heavier, like, all killer no filler was punk, does this look infected was getting heavier, and now chuck is just as heavy! I just love Sum 41, all of their songs can really get people goin, they're always upbeat, fast, etc.

It's a definite must have for any Sum 41 fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completley new 4 Oct 2004
Format:Audio CD
I have received a copy of this album nearing the end of September. I really was excited to hear the new Sum 41 disc because I heard their single on 97.9x called, "We're All To Blame"; and it was a remarkable change from their previous punk recordings. The song goes through a few stages of music; from accoustic, to a new metal type sound, to 80's hair metal. This album really shocked me. I heard another great tune from this upcoming release called, "The Bitter End". This song is a great heavy metal approach; a step up to Metallica. The song basically sounds like something of Battery, from the heavy metal band, Metallica. Another song, called "Welcome to Hell", is an exact Offspring sound alike, of their new song from, Splinter, "The Noose". Another great song is "I'm Not the One". This album is a must have for any fans of hard rock/metal and the occasional alternative/punk moments. I hated Sum 41's previous music becuase the song titles were meant to strike the listener as a heavy metal song, but would be a let down as the listener first heard it and it turned out to be a punk thing. This album is extremely different from anything I ever heard from them, and even better; there is no rapping. Its a rocker's dream. When this album is released 10/5/04, I recommend you all to purchase it and keep the sales high. After all; now this band desereves it.
