Product Description

Product Description

From its inception in 1929, Chrysler Corporation had been laboring in the shadow of Ford and GM, until, in 1955, Chrysler experienced a confluence of styling and performance that catapulted it to the forefront of the industry. Its trendsetting i300 was beautiful and powerful, and launched a high-performance assault that continued until the early 1970s. Road Runners, Barracudas, Challengers, Chargers and Super Bees, powered by legendary 426 Hemi, 340, 440 and 383 engines, were transformed into the greatest racers of the era. This fascinating volume chronicles Chrysler's high-performance history from the i300 to today's headturning Viper. A delightful combination of archival and contemporary photographs, plus technological developments, racing, styling, engineering, personalities, promotions and more highlight Chrysler's muscle car era.

Memorable muscle..... 31 May 2010
Format:Hardcover
As a fan of American cars since childhood once I spotted this book I simply had to have it. It was duly despatched from the states in double quick time and was 'off the press' mint condition and one of the most comprehensive and colourful books on the subject I have ever read. Nicely set out in chapters that follow sensibly on from each other they are packed with information, whether you like the technical stuff or just reading about the way this series of car were developed, this book is a must. A nice mix of illustrations old, recent and retaken ones of restored models make this quite hefty sized book worth every penny...and for what you get it's really not expensive. 12/10. (Now where can I get a Road Runner...beep-beep...)

A vey good summary of the best muscle from Chrysler and co.. 13 Oct 1999
By Mr David Taylor Fernandes - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
As always, Anthony Young has done an excellent job in bring all the necessary data, facts and figures about his chosen subject. Nothing new that has not been done before by various other authors like Holder & Kunz, RM Clarke and most of the pictures have been seen before.

However, a worthwhile addition to any collection as it brings the best of all three manufacturers together unto one book and blends Mr Youngs particular style of writing which is clear and informative.

Only lacking in comparison reports and multicar tests..
