Book Description

Latest upload for grammar and spelling fixes; 2nd February 2014

In 2012, I received a commendation for entering Chronovisor in the “The Winchester Writers’ 2012 Three Pages of a Novel” competition. The funny thing was, the adjudicators forgot to announce the commendations on the Saturday, and I was sent an email apology a week later. I danced around the house when the certificate arrived in the post!

Here's the book blurb;
Continuum was founded in the early years of the Millennium by Cynthia Barthelemy. It markets the Past Life experience, which allows the user to live a few hours in the past of a direct ancestor, as if they were there themselves.

Rising fast through the Fortune Global 500 companies, and having recently entered the top 100, Continuum needs to tempt customers with something new. Alexander Taylor is responsible for delivering the enhanced experience. To speed up progress, Continuum is secretly testing on the public. Some become ill, and the issues are being kept secret from employees and the public alike.

Jason Gabbey is a data analyst at Continuum’s headquarters in London. During his routine work, he finds some anomalous data, and becomes suspicious of his employer's motives. Andrea Williams works as a personal trainer at a city gym. She becomes ill during her first Past Life trip. Steven Salt is a lonely and troubled figure, who is the leader of a protest group against Continuum.

Continuum's secrets begin to unravel, and the three are thrown together. They find Continuum is threatening not only its own downfall, but the very fabric of history. Will they win the race to save history as they know it?

More About the Author

I've lived in Southampton, on the south coast of England, since I went to university in 1989 to study Geophysical Sciences. After graduating, I landed a job in I.T. at our National Mapping Agency. I survived the old boys' club of the early nineties - where girls and computers were considered a dangerous mix - and stayed for a decade.

I then joined Snowflake Software, a quirky software company that has grown from its roots in a small office with a shared kitchen, into an international business. Nearly twenty years on from my first job, we are 50:50 girls and boys, with truly global staff and clientele.

What about life outside the cut-and-thrust of business? Well, I live in the city with my wonderful husband and two elderly (flatulent) boxer dogs. My hobbies are varied, yet intermittent, as life has a tendency of getting in the way of 24/7 fun. I love scuba diving, sailing, reading, walking, DIY and gardening.

Stirred into this energetic mix is the unexpected new addition of a passion for writing. I've recently published my first science fiction novel, Chronovisor. If you like science fiction, especially time travel adventures, then this is for you.

Enjoy, and don't forget to leave feedback!

Really enjoyed this book. Excellent story that kept me hooked and had me going to bed early for a whole week just to have a sneaky read. If you are a fan of sci fi you won't be disappointed. Hoping Ms Allen writes another in the not too distant future.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic story, beautifully written 7 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
From the moment I started reading this book I could not put it down, the opening prologue is beautifully written and the detail pulls you in and you feel like you are there, experiencing it.

The characters in the story are so believable that you feel like you know them, you probably know people just like them. I found myself warming to all the characters especially Jason, who makes a very geeky hero :) The whole idea of past life experiences and the impact that has on the present was truly gripping and ingeniously handled by the author.

In short this is a fantastic read and transports you to a different world. Let's hope I make it back ok :)

5.0 out of 5 stars When do I get to read the next one!? 8 Feb. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Clearly lots of thought has gone into getting the little details right in this book, especially on the subject of the unique version of time travel. But that certainly doesn't cause the book to become boring; it's quite the opposite. You wouldn't believe from the quality of writing that this is the author's first novel. To top it off, the protagonist rides a BMW motorcycle. Definitely my kind of book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Well thought out time travel romp! 30 April 2014
By Mobewan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very modern time travel story. Set now(ish) it follows the fortunes of employees and customers of Continuum, a company that markets the opportunity to go body hop with an ancestor of yours. This is very well written, with a highly narrative style that draws you in and sets the scene. It has a measured pace at the beginning, bringing the key characters to life. The pace could put you off at first, but please don’t let it. It may build slowly, but once it gets going it doesn’t let up. With time travel stories you always run the risk of being confused and questioning the integrity of the plot. Not so here.

All in all a well written, entertaining story. Recommended.
