Product Description

Product Description

This carefully crafted ebook: “The Complete Chronicles of Barsetshire (The Warden + Barchester Towers + Doctor Thorne + Framley Parsonage + The Small House at Allington + The Last Chronicle of Barset)” contains 6 novels in one volume and is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents.

The Chronicles of Barsetshire (or, in more recent UK usage, the Barchester Chronicles) is a series of six novels by the English author Anthony Trollope, set in the fictitious English county of Barsetshire (located approximately where the real Dorset lies) and its cathedral town of Barchester. The novels concern the dealings of the clergy and the gentry, and the political, amatory, and social manœuvrings that go on among and between them.

The novels in the series are:

 The Warden (1855)

 Barchester Towers (1857)

 Doctor Thorne (1858)

 Framley Parsonage (1861)

The Small House at Allington (1864)

The Last Chronicle of Barset (1867)

Anthony Trollope (1815 –  1882) was one of the most successful, prolific and respected English novelists of the Victorian era. Some of his best-loved works, collectively known as the Chronicles of Barsetshire, revolve around the imaginary county of Barsetshire. He also wrote perceptive novels on political, social, and gender issues, and on other topical matters.

In spite of Dickens popularity, I think Trollope the better writer and these 6 novels show him at his best. Amazing value - I would have paid considerably more for the individual books.

A glimpse into another world where politics is still politics and hasty moves still bring disaster. If you enjoy reading Dickens, you'll enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Literary perfection 15 Sep 2014

To have the temerity to critique anything by Trollope is above my abilities but, if you love the Barchester Chronicles as I do then this is the volume for you. The complete works are here at a nominal price which allows anyone to have them on tap, so to speak. It cannot replace having the volumes in your own library but so much easier to just dip in and out when in Kindle form.

What a treasure. I have tried to start this series so many times and stalled. However, having pushed through I finally get Trollope. The gentle humour is wonderful, and I love how so many much loved characters keep popping up in each book. It will stay with me all my life. I'm going to start the Palliser series next

Trollope is witty and incredibly insightful; his humour is at times pithy, at times droll. I love the way his characters are so real.
