Book Description

Chronic Fear is the second installment of Scott Nicholson’s chilling Fear series, which began with the harrowing Liquid Fear. The story picks up one year after the notorious Monkey House trials, from which the tiny handful of survivors have scattered in the wind. For while the unwitting human guinea pigs are still alive, the experimental drugs to which they were subjected continue to wreak havoc on their emotional stability. World-renowned neurobiologist Dr. Alexis Morgan knows first-hand the horrors of the sadistic experiment: her husband, Mark, was one its victims. As a result, he is plagued by unpredictable bouts of rage and paranoia. Dr. Morgan’s research into the drug leads her to suspect presidential candidate and U. S. Senator Daniel Burchfield of plotting to gain control of the drug for his own purposes, a power play that is sure to result in countless casualties unless she and three Monkey House survivors can outwit the shadowy figures behind the conspiracy—if they don’t lose their own sanity first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action Packed Sequel 1 Jan. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
The action, suspense and emotions are back in Chronic Fear by Scott Nicholson, the sequel to Liquid Fear. Picking up a year from where the first book ended, the Monkey House survivors have went on their own ways to try to make peace of the dreaded experiment they were subjected to several years earlier.

Alexis sets out to find a cure for the effects of Seethe which happen to be tormenting her husband Mark. With just a single pill of Halcyon remaining, she is racing the clock to produce a new batch of Halcyon as Mark's paranoid and rage-filled tantrums begin to take him over.

Roland and Wendy have left the city life behind them and hidden out in a small cabin in the mountains. Constantly battling the Seethe that is living within him, Roland knows it is only a matter of time before they are being hunted after receiving an alarming email warning of impending trouble.

Scott Nicholson begins Chronic Fear with a bang and puts the reader right back into the crazy maze that the late Dr. Briggs subjected them too. The clock is ticking and Alexis, Mark, Wendy and Roland vow to keep the effects of Seethe and Halcyon from spreading to the masses. If you love reading psychological thrillers...read Chronic Fear.

Chronic Fear does contain adult language, sex, violence and gore and should only be read by mature adult audiences that are 18+.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sequel that doesn't let you down 31 Dec. 2011
By KB
Format:Kindle Edition
Scott Nicholson has been writing superior-quality disturbing fiction for a while now. I first came across his work in the moving and chilling collection Thank You For The Flowers, published more than ten years ago. These days he's publishing dark thrillers that are almost in a category of their own - paranoid, packed with suspense, unsettling, and above all gripping - and it's good to see him getting the success he deserves.

Chronic Fear is a sequel to the excellent Liquid Fear and where some sequels can fall a bit flat, just rehashing what has gone before, this one picks up ideas and events from the first volume and runs with them at breakneck, scary pace. Another good 'un.
