This is just an advert for Mickel Therapy. You have to read it before you start your sessions.
I am ashamed to say I tried Mickel Therapy, I desperately believed in it and kept trying to do whatever the hell it is ya suppose to be doing -which by the way they never actually fully explain. It's all about expressing your feelings which would be fine on its own but not as a cure for a neurological disease. I was constantly being told i was getting better &any symptoms were just messages from my body that I needed to listen too.
It really messed my head up as I had to throw myself totally into believing it to do it properly. I wasn't allowed to tell anyone what my "therapist" was telling me to do as that would stop it working **This should have set the warning bells off in my head!!**
Hence I had all this rubbish in my head that I was responsible for my symptoms and even tho i was trying damn hard all the time to get better it wasn't working. It took me ages to finally except it wasn't working and a major relapse -my worst yet as a result of me pushing myself to do more things. I was encouraged to do more, do things I enjoyed &to express myself then I wouldn't be ill.
She kept saying your body doesn't want you to rest your symptoms are body boredom -she was wrong!!
It messed my head up, stressed my out &made me much more poorly through over exertion. Plus it made me anxious and gave me low self-esteem. And cost a fortune, do not give money to these people donate it to M.E. research.
Thankfully I've since met some wonderful people who have supported me at ME North East and I saw a pschologist for a while to stop blaming myself for my condition and accept it as a real physical disease. I have also since had good experience from a consultant neurologist. Before that I'd just been told to cheer up and get on with it over &over by an idiot quack, which is why I started to think this pyschological stuff might help in the first place.
To clarify:
It is not a cure for M.E.
it IS a totally psychological approach
Please don't waste money on this instead get referred thro your doctor -FOR FREE!! to see someone to help you cope with your chronic disease. That is the best ya going to get, &it can be a great benefit in reducing the stress, depression, anxiety &negative thinking anyone with such a devastating illness is bound to develop over time. And reducing these things may well make you feel better, as it is one less strain on your system.
Best wishes to anyone who knows what it's like to suffer from this terrible disease
