Book Description

7 Jan 2010
There are thought to be over 250,000 sufferers of CFS and ME and over 1.2 million people with fibromyalgia in the UK alone. There is little practical advice available and many despair of recovery. Alison Adams helps her readers to understand their disorders and offers them a revolutionary new plan. This book is a clear, insightful, informative and sympathetic guide for sufferers and practitioners alike, from someone who discovered the information the hard way. First, it clearly identifies the primary causes of these disorders, many of which stem from medical and dental practices which are endured by the average person from infancy. Second, it states that when these factors are addressed, recovery is possible. Third, it gives clear step-by-step instructions as to what needs to be done to enable the level of healing required to recover from these conditions through diet, natural supplements and, where necessary, removal of amalgam fillings. Finally, she gives sufferers the encouragement they need most - it's not your fault, and through dedication and determination you will be able to feel normal again. The author has exceptional insight into both conventional and holistic medicine, having trained and worked in the medical profession and as a naturopath. As a former sufferer who has now fully recovered, she is in a unique position to help readers to identify the specific causes of their illnesses and to enable them to help themselves back to a life free from FRS.

From the Publisher

At last, a revolutionary book that tells sufferers of chronic fatigue syndrome (C.F.S.), M.E., fibromyalgia and autoimmune diseases that they don't have to `cope with' or `manage' their illness any more - that they can RECOVER using natural means. The author states that these illnesses are not `mysterious' at all, but are all caused by the same underlying problem and she groups these disorders together as Fatigue Related Syndromes (FRS).

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really Good Read 27 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
This book is so much more than a self help book.It works on many different levels and is of interest to all.
Although written in order to offer help to those suffering from chronic fatigue and auto-immune diseases it has information that is of interest to absolutely everyone.
It is comprehensive and amazingly, despite its title, a really good and informative read.
As a practitioner I am either constantly recommending it or lending it out.
Alison's website also offers further support, with all the resources needed to put into action the tools presented.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive guide to recovery 11 July 2012
Format:Paperback
I bought this book thinking it would probably be one of those self-help type books with a few dietary suggestions. I had no idea it would be so in depth and scientifically supported. At last there is an explanation for the symptoms that people coming to me for massage have reported. Now I can explain to them why they suffer muscle pain, fatigue, and foggy thinking. I can also offer suggestions and help them devise a recovery plan which to many of them is the first time they have heard of the possibility of recovery. To suggest, as one reviewer has, that the 'ideas are frankly ridiculous' is only a reflection of their stuck thinking, perhaps encouraged by the current medical view which has no answers and encourages despair and powerlessness over the illness. I don't have Chronic Fatigue or Fibromyalgia currently but I have had a CF type illness in the past and know how it feels to be frightened and passed from specialist to specialist all of whom are similarly clueless. As a therapist myself, when I am confronted with a client who is in so much pain (even though they take strong painkillers daily), that they are considering ending their life I need to have something to offer other than the vague platitudes and endless drug regimes currently given to sufferers. This book offers some much needed hope to people and for that Alison should be congratulated. As a naturopath I was taken aback to have so many of the ideas I have been studying brought together in one book. Not only does it answer my questions as a practitioner it also makes sense to everyone I have talked to who has the syndrome so is a valuable tool in my toolbox for treatment. I will also be following some of the advice in there myself as I recognise that I have some symptoms of mercury toxicity too and want to avoid developing worse symptoms sometime in the future. I highly recommend this book for it's comprehensive coverage and positive outlook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the only book you'll need 3 Sep 2012
Format:Paperback
I suffer from FMS, and this book has been a real life saver for me. I rather randomly stumbled across The Natural Recovery Plan website whilst researching causes of the condition. Influenced by the `you can't cure it' mentality (and a review on here), I first borrowed the book from the library, but I thought it made total sense and just had to buy it and give it a try. Thank goodness I did! I did quite a lot of reading at the time, but was influenced or convinced by very little of what I read. This jumped out at me as `the answer'. It is the only explanation that seems to cover at least to some degree all the other theories about the cause of FMS & ME. But really, the proof has been in the results. In the the time I've been following the supplement protocol, I have seen some significant improvements in my health and describe myself as about 70% improved, which is amazing for such a relatively short time period. I love that it addresses many toxicity issues, not just mercury. If you want to take a natural approach to treating your condition, this is possibly the only reference you'll need. Thank you so much!!
