I bought this book for my children and it proved very popular. There are lots of ideas and examples and all the items can be made with things that can be found around the house. The children really enjoyed making their cards and presents and even brought the book out when their friends came round on play dates and their friends really enjoyed it too. It is a good book for all ages...my children are five and ten. I would recommend it.

Bought this little book for craft activities to do with my kids age 6 and 3. The 6 year old is a boy and found some of the ideas a bit 'girly' for his liking but was prepared to have a go at the printing and painting ideas. Most of the activities are still a bit difficult for my 3 year old to do on her own but she loved helping and colouring in! We'll be using this book for many a Christmas to come I think - money well spent and great for a wet/snowy day activity.

This book is little use to me as it gives
1) No measurements at all. 2) No lists of materials or information on the same. 3) No templates.

The methods used for making the items are not detailed enough. Presumably the book is intended to be used by children but even an adult would need to be an experienced crafter - and very keen - to make an item from the book looking as good as in the illustrations, without the required information.
If a child used the instructions on her/his own it would be impossible for her/him to produce an item which looks anywhere near as good as in the illustrations, and acceptable to her/himself.
The age group the book is intended for is not indicated.
The illustrations are attractive and could be referred to by someone wanting to create their own Christmas designs without making the actual items. There are some good ideas there.
The index is good.

i have another books by fiona watt and i bought this one hoping that there would be different activities or new techniques but there were not. many activities are alredy in the book " the usborne big book of christmas things to make and do" (i recommend that one) by the same author, other activities are different but using the same techniques as in other of her books.to sum up she has got better books and i was quite disappointed.
