OK, unseasonable I know (I was just filing it away, next to Unwrapping Christmas and Christmas Watching) but this really looks awfully good - serious, hard philosophy, with the merest Christmassian (sic) cast. WHY did the Church feel obliged to celebrate Jesus's birth, 395 years after the putative event? See p xi. Did you know Harold Lloyd kept his Christmas tree up all year round? Though without an index I can't see if that's mentioned here. Ding dong merrily!
