Product Description

When country-singer-turned-talkjock Val Virgo (aka Izzy Miller) receives a phone-in death threat from a self-described aboriginal militant, he laughs it off as a sick joke. When he wakes up in a hospital bed, he is no longer amused. Why would any self-respecting "terrorist" plant a bomb in the apartment of glorified disk jockey? In search of the answer to this vexing question Virgo takes a trip down memory lane, to the mean streets of his misspent youth, one step ahead of the mad bomber. The race against time comes to an explosive conclusion when our hero discovers a long-lost enemy virtually on his doorstep - one hour too late.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Amusing and Entertaining Read 1 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed this book. The protagonist Val Virgo is so wonderfully laid back and world-weary and the supporting characters all colourful and distinct. The story itself is a wee bit different from the normal whodunnit, with plenty of humour and certainly using Winnipeg as a setting was interesting and unusual, at least, I suppose, for people not from Winnipeg. At the outset I thought that Val's constant wise-cracking might begin to wear after a while but his snappy comments and asides were extremely amusing and fitted in really well with the character's sardonic view on life. I read this book in two enjoyable sittings while on holiday. The pace is excellent with never a dull moment and the book comes highly recommended as a good-natured, light-hearted read.

(Two minor alcohol-realted notes to the author: Johnny Walker is a blend and not a single malt and, of course, unlike inferior immitaions, the spelling of Scotch Whisky has no 'e'.)

Didn't enjoy the book, took me ages to read it. To drawn out, boring not enough happening to keep your interest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Thriller 14 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A thriller with multiple twists, and plenty to keep me interested. It was easy going and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The only minus points were a number of spelling and punctuation errors particularly near the beginning, and in a couple of places slightly confusing as a few of the characters have multiple names / nicknames. I will be looking out for other books by this author.
