About the Author

One of Britain s leading and most-loved designers, Cath Kidston is best known for her vintage-inspired homewares, clothing and accessories. Cath began her career as an interior designer before opening her first retail shop in London in 1993, where she sold vintage fabrics and antique furniture. Now with more than 40 stores and concessions in the UK, plus more in the Republic of Ireland, Japan and South Korea, Cath Kidston Ltd is now a presence on almost every high street. In 2010, Cath was awarded an MBE in recognition of her services to business. To date, Cath has published four bestselling project books Make!, Sew!, Stitch! and Patch! that encompass a wide range of disciplines and finished items, from sewing and patchwork to cross-stitch and needlepoint. I bought this book without seeing it in a shop, and I expected it to be far nicer than it was. The patterns aren't very nice at all, and the photographed finished items look like they were put together by a child. My eleven year old is just learning to sew and some of the things she makes look better than these.

Don't believe a word of the label on the front that says 'Free Inside - Everything you need to sew 12 festive felt ornaments' as at least 11 of them require white felt, but white isn't included, you get cream instead. Hmmm... a cream coloured snowman?

The patterns included in this book can all be found online - either identical or very similar; and the felt included is quite poor quality. You can get the same thing in Hobbycraft or The Range for about 40p a sheet.

If you still want to buy this book then I'd recommend having a look at it in a shop before you buy - you'll probably change your mind.

I was quite disappointed with this book. The decorations are very simple and predictable, I was hoping for something a bit different that used her fabrics. Children or people with little sewing skills might like this book but an experienced sewer will find nothing original or innovative in this book. I am glad I bough it on Amazon and didn't pay the full price!

Very disappointed with this book. Firstly it was a lot thinner and smaller than I expected. Secondly, not everything you need is included as stated in large letters on the front of the book - instead it tells you in very small letters what is not included. Thirdly the designs aren't anything special and don't look great on the made-up photos in the book, meaning my efforts as a mediocre crafter are going to look even worse! I have so much Cath Kidston stuff (including other books) and have always been impressed with the quality - Well not this time! I echo what someone else said, that had I seen this book in a shop, I wouldn't have bought it.
