Format:Audio CD
A good hours worth of all the old favourite christmas carols (and a couple not quite so old). The rich schmalzy tones of the quite excellent Crouch End Festival Chorus are perfectly balanced by the luscious sound of the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. The splendid orchestrations by conductor, Paul Bateman, are a treat. For once a collection of carols where the musicians don't try and baffle you with how clever they are. Astonishingly for such a professional sounding outfit they sound like they are having fun - now there's a christmas innovation.

Christmas choral classics is just what you want at Christmas! Some sentimental favourites, some really classy, and some beautiful sounds. Not too many 9 lessons and carols types, but not a totally secular collection either. A good listen and lots of fun.

For years I have been searching for a Christmas Album with a full orchestra and festive chorus instead of the usual organ background, and now I have found it. In my opinion this is a truly superb classical orchestral album with spine tingling choral arrangements. Most enjoyable.
