Billed as something to appeal to those who "loved The Snowman", this 'movie' can only be described as disappointing. It must have Dickens turning in his grave and wanting to sue for misrepresentation! The story has been butchered and changed. The starry names doing the voice-overs have prostituted their talents. I wish I had seen the film before buying. If you want a children's version which follows the original I suggest you buy the muppet version! Granted, these graphics are beautifully done but the stupid mice, Scrooge with a soft spot for them, and the destruction of Dickens' original tale make this irritatingly mawkish. Now I have to find some illiterate, never likely to read the story, who, unlike myself, will be able to sit through this trite rendition to the end! My advice is don't waste your money, but if you do want a copy, used only once (not to the end) then I have one going very cheap!

This is without a doubt the worst version of the classic story. Do not expect the story you know and love for it will disapoint. My nephew and I watched it (he's 5) and he suggested fast forwarding it within the first half hour. Most of the scenes within this half hour are not any part of Dickens' story, I don't know who felt that two irritating mice would be good "comic relief". Everyone fails miserably in this film, the voices, the annimation, the script, the director, the editor, the producer, everyone. The classic story does not need editing or adding to it is perfect as it is. Possably the worst offence in this film is how miserable scrooge is after the visitations! He and the mice should have ended up with mange. Bah-Humbug!

I grew up listening to this story, i loved the book by dickens, and have loved most of the film versions (muppets christmas carol and scrooged especially). I didnt think to much of this film (infact id say the best part of this film is the song by kate winslet), but most kids will enjoy it, and if you liked "the snowman" then you'll like this film. kate winslet, nicolas cage and simon callow are some of the familiar vocies amongst this all star cast.
