Bringing a touch of elegance to your Christmas side table 18 Dec. 2014
By C. Taylor - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I typically wait a significant amount of time before posting a review, but thought posting now may help others.

To address assertions by another reviewer (who didn't actually read the book):
1) This book has both a table of contents and a recipe index. They both work fine in my copy. You can view the table of contents in the "look inside" preview.
2) The "look inside" preview doesn't include recipes, but as someone else pointed out; on the page for the hardcover edition there are four images--three of which are recipes. I currently find those representative of others in the cookbook.

I find Mia Öhrn's cookbook elegant in presentation. It is shorter than many cookbooks, but then so are many other cookbooks. The index lists 38 recipes and my kindle says the book has 43 pages. It also includes stencils for constructing a gingerbread house. It seems Ms. Öhrn wanted to share some of her most favorite recipes. Her Amazon bio suggests she is a famous pastry chef.

I haven't yet tried any of the recipes, but they do look delicious and don't appear overly difficult. In particular, I want to try the Fig Pie with a walnut filling and the Glögg Truffles. Seven of the recipes involve ginger.

I will update this review and rating as I try out the various recipes. If the fig pie, glögg truffles, or any of the recipes listed on the hardcover page appeal to you, then this cookbook is likely right up your tasteful street. (Yes, that's a play on, "right up your alley.")

No TOC or index indicated in either of the previews; previews contain NO recipes; pig-in-a-poke! 16 Dec. 2014
By Cyber Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I didn't buy this book. The Kindle edition is on sale cheap; however, looking at the preview of the print edition I find:

1) Only 96 pages including front- and back-matter.
2) Table of contents lists only sections of the book, not recipes.
3) Book has no index—or at least it isn't included in the preview.
4) Absolutely no recipes are "given away" in the preview to give the potential buyer, so there's no way to judge quality of content.

Publishers and authors need to get a clue about selling books on the Internet. Share TOCs, indexes, and a recipe or two so people can determine in advance that they aren't about to be ripped off.
recommendable - but does have it's negatives. 20 May 2015

This book has offers recipes for many creative sweet treats, or at least so to my American palate. The recipes aren't complicated, but I haven't tried any to see how the final results.

Most ingredients are readily available in American supermarkets. Glögg wine might be more difficult, but German Glühwein is almost the same thing and easy to find around Christmas.

At least one ingredient, saffron, used in the baked sweet breads can be pricey, but a little goes a long way and is a wonderful flavor, when used in moderation.

The one thing that I dislike about the book, and therefore, only 4 stars is the recipe for the troll. There are really no instructions or pictures or list of ingredients for the home user on how to make it at home. Come on, couldn't the author at least have weighed one finished troll to suggest how much marzipan it took to make one.

not what I expected 17 Dec. 2014
By Diana Failla - Published on Amazon.com

The cookbook had beautiful pictures and the recipes look great. However, it was not what I expected. It did not have enough recipes as I would have liked. For this reason, I gave fewer stars.
