This review is from: The Christian's Dilemma: A Guide to the New Spirituality (Paperback)
Summary : Thoughtful, intelligent and interesting review of spirituality as it relates to today's believer
Reviewer: Logical, thirty something, Irish reader.
I found this book to be a suprising and thought provoking read. The conservative cover led me to expect a gentle mainstream view in line with a traditional and conservative Christian religion. I picked it up by accident and fully expected to deride the contents and return it to the shelf unpurchased.
In complete contrast, each chapter opened a new spiritual dimension for consideration. The book gives Christianity its place as a radical movement demanding more than churchgoing. My initial reaction to almost each section was -"Oh, dear now he's gone too far, this isn't credible", but by gently unfolding the supportive scientific and historic facts, alongside recognised references (and some new ones), Comerford brings the reader along an intelligent and fascinating journey into the possibilities of our spirituality. The inclusion of some details on the well known physics of the universe lends credibility while the discussion remains accessible to readers of non-scientific backgrounds.
The conciseness and clarity of the book is to be welcomed in a field where many tomes have been filled with waffle. This, in complete contrast, is a challenging, throught provoking and informative book.
A real find - a little gem.
