Product Description

Review

“England′s most accomplished historical theologian has crafted an authorities and enticing text, one that moves thoughtfully through multiple periods, personalities and themes in Christianity’s complex history. Meticulous and memorable, Christianity: An Introduction (2nd edition) takes us on a breathtaking journey, and readers of all kinds will enjoy the ride.” Darren J. N. Middleton, Texas Christian University.

“McGrath’s Introduction to Christianity is the finest text of its kind available. It is encyclopaedic in scope, reliable and quite accessible to the non–specialist. McGrath not only discusses the pivotal events and major figures one would expect in such a work, he portrays Christianity as a dynamic living tradition, growing, adapting, struggling, and through it all, thriving.

I have with success used the book as a student text and also for my own preparation in other courses. In this second edition, an already solid resource is made even more valuable.” David L. Johns, Earlham School of Religion

Interesting 25 May 2009
Format:Paperback
I bought this book for my AS religious studies course, unfortunately I dropped off the course but kept the book becasue I'm interested in Christianity. Although it's a tad difficult to navogate if your not sure what your looking for but once you get the hang of that it's a very interesting and imformative documentation. The writting is complex but after getting used to it is simple, you have to elarn to ignore large parts of text that are just bable about the same point but other than that it's very interesting x

Christianity: An Introduction 25 Mar 2012
By AC300 - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Alister McGrath diligently walks the reader through the history of Christianity, giving the reader a complete and accurate description of the world's major religion. While it is used in universities around the world, Dr. McGrath's personal faith influences his writing and gives the book less of a typical dry, textbook feel. Whether familiar with Christianity or just discovering it, this book is highly recommended.

An excellent introduction to the subject of Christianity. Valuable to the long-time Christian, as well as to those who are simply curious.
