Product Description

Book Description

'Christianity Explored' is based on the international and ever-expanding 'Christianity Course' that is reaching out to thousands of people. In this short follow-up book, Rico Tice and Barry Cooper take the reader through the Gospel of Mark to introduce who Jesus was, what he came to do, and why. With spotlights on James, John, Bartimaeus and Herod, clear distinctions are made between those who rejected and accepted Jesus as Lord.

As the book closes, the reader we are left with two crucial questions: Who do we say Jesus is? And how will we respond to his claims of divinity?

'Christianity Explored' is written in a clear, readable and entertaining style, making it an ideal book for introducing the non-Christian to the Christian faith.

Commendations

'"Christianity Explored" is the best resource I have ever read for knowing Jesus Christ. It is clear, precise, and very enjoyable.' Pat Lam

'Here's what I really like about this book: it's honest, hiding nothing. It doesn't mince its words, and tells it straight. And it focuses on the authentic portrait of Jesus as painted in Mark's Gospel.' Dr John Stott

'My faith in what Jesus Christ has done for me is more precious to me than any of my athletic achievements. This book ex plains why, and will challenge you as to what is the most important thing in your life.' Jonathan Edwards

'We're all looking for truth. This book is easy to read and easy to understand. It just tells you straight. I read the book three times!' Inga Tuigamala

5.0 out of 5 stars Christianity Explored by Rico Tice and Barry Cooper, 30 Jun 2002
This review is from: Christianity Explored (Paperback)
This book is an unashamed punchy explanation of what the Christian faith is about. Anyone who thinks the Christian faith is dull, hypocritical or for the gullible should read it to have their preconceptions challenged. What I like best about it is that Cooper and Tice allow their charming,self-deprecating characters to shine through with plenty of humour and relevant references to their own interests in cinema and sport. It should be added, that this is never at the expense of the Biblical truths- though I suspect that people over a certain age might not be au fait with references to RADIOHEAD or THE MATRIX! Not only is the book challenging, it is also unintimidatingly easy to understand and refreshingly unsentimental and sharp. Give this as a gift to your non-Christian friend, but also read it yourself to remind you of the joy of the incredible love of Jesus.

5.0 out of 5 stars Christianity for the clueless, 6 Mar 2004
By
This review is from: Christianity Explored (Paperback)
A marvellously engaging examination of the relevance of Christianity in our fractured world, obviously pitched at the younger generation but suitable for anyone wanting to know more about the claims of Christianity. The authors rely heavily on Mark's gospel to unpack some of the central claims of the Christian faith - the life of Jesus, his miracles, his claims, the necessity of his death, the reality of the resurrection - in a way that actually makes sense. They also explain Christian buzz words such as 'grace' in a way that actually enables you to understand. The reason I bought this book was so that I could offer a robust explanation for my Christian faith if anyone should ask me why I am a Christian - the book has not failed to deliver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unputdownable, 9 May 2002
This review is from: Christianity Explored (Paperback)
This is a vivid and engaging book. I felt almost present at the events of Jesus's life. The company on the journey was very warm and funny and really brought home the impact on my own life. I couldn't put it down.
