5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginner's 10 Nov 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
If you read Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine don't bother, If not and you are new to woodcarving this book is a must to get you going. In general the quality of the book and plates are first class, unfortunately my copy had some bad ink smears on the text in the front of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars good book 29 Mar 2011
By Rab
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
this is a good book not the best one if you are just starting to carve but has some good tips and tool selection, it will be a better guide for me when my carving improves so it will be used and not left on the shelf.

By Lou

A great book, my husband says. Full of detailed tips and advice - a real Woodcarving course and a real reference manual. Perfect for Beginners, which hubby is, but also good for intermediate too.

Things for carving - an Wren, a Baseball Cap, a Bull, Low Relief/High Relief/Pierced Relief Fish

He's looking forward to carving his first fish!
