Very enjoyable!,

I am a huge fan of Diana Wynne Jones' Chrestomanci series and thoroughly enjoyed this book - 'Stealer of Souls' is particularly brilliant. However I do think you'll appreciate the stories more if you are familiar with the characters. Overall I give this 4 rather than 5 stars because I didn't enjoy 'The Sage of Theare' quite so much, although readers who also like DWJ's slightly darker style of writing (I'm thinking here of 'The 8 Days of Luke' and 'Fire and Hemlock') will probably disagree with me. Highly recommended.

Diana Wynne Jones triumphs yet again!,

I bought this book shortly after reading the Christomanci series, as i was really wrapped up in the story. I found the short stories amusing, witty and of course they all starred the tall dashing Christomanci! This combination was enough to keep me glued to my chair, and anxiously turning the pages! Although i really enjoyed this book ( i am a great fantasy lover) if you haven't read the other books in the series you definatley will not find it easy to understand the plot, this is why i have only given it 4 stars. If you do purchase this book then, HAPPY READING! and if you don't.... well, your missing out!

slightly disappointing as most short stories are, there is not much to get your teeth into as the stories end just as they get going. Having said that if you like the Chrestomanci series then buy this just to find out more about some of the lesser characters. Don't expect earth shattering plots!
