The Chosen is an engaging read loaded with colorful dialogue. Emma Calin's talent for words is evident as she paints a vivid image of a day in the life of her protagonists. I found myself finishing the story and then rereading it again just for the dialogue. The characterization is excellent, the grasp on the dreams and aspirations of the characters infallible, and an ending that will take you by surprise.

An absolutely delightful read that I highly recommend.

Pragmatism versus scepticism! Two sides of the same coin are explored in this quirky short tale, one man the eternal optimist, the other the dour realist, both products of their worlds and their own perceptions of reality. I won't divulge the end or any twists, but I can say that it is a very enjoyable short read.

Reminiscent of the stories featured in a programme called `Tales of the Unexpected' (many years ago), this little story is a gem. It's hard not to give out spoilers, but sufficient to say you will have an `oh no!' moment. There is a moral to this tale - but of course I can't share that, you will just have to read it for yourself!
