Product Description

Product Description

Mark Brandon Read, known to his friends and enemies alike as "Chopper", has spent more than 17 years in prison and has a reputation for violence earned in a blood-spattered career as a streetfighter, standover man, gunman and underworld executioner. He has been shot, stabbed, hit with a claw hammer and nearly kicked to death. In "Chopper 3", Read reveals more stories from the underworld, bringing his humour and sharp eye to bear on prison life, brutality, corruption and the warped code of the values of the criminal fraternity.

By David
Format:Paperback
I have read the first two books by Mark Brandon read, and I feel that this third book does, and does not deliver the great tales of the underworld of Melbourne, Australia that we had in the first two. I feel that this third edition didnt have that touch to it, like the others did. Chopper will make you laugh, make you shiver, and make you wonder. His detailed accounts of his childhood and his life behind bluestone walls, are in some aspects, quite shocking and disturbing, but then again..what do you expect from a guy who cuts peoples toes off for a living. As life as a headhunter, contract killer, toe cutter, streetfighter and wild gunman, Mark Brandon Read, known to those who know him best, or hate him best, 'Chopper', has become a national hero, but he is always portraid as the bad guy when he walks into a courtroom. But this third book does give a better insight on his childhood, and it reveals his true emotions about the underworld of Australia.

A Little bit Iffy 27 July 2003
Format:Hardcover
Having read the first to books by Mark Brandon read, I was really looking forward to recieving this book, however I found the book was very samey, compared to the first two books it is rubbish. But it isn't a bad book as such, it is just not as good as the first two. Chopper uses his brilliant Australian Wit to good Effect. if only it was a bit different.

Another great piece from the mad Aussie. I wonder when Mark will run out of gags and stories, but he never fails to enthuse his readers with new stories and situations.
