Review

Letters from readers: 'After following your rules, baby Laura arrived ... As you can imagine, we are absolutely delighted and I want to thank you for writing the book' 'I had the key to unlock my feelings and to achieve what I had thought would be impossible. Your book is so enlightening and my feelings are identified on every page. I thought I was the only one who felt that way' 'We did everything you said and on 11 July we got our baby girl. And I still can't believe she is actually here. I'm so happy; I'm crying now while writing this. I feel I'm the luckiest person in the world' 'I had to write in my present state of euphoria and let you know that your timing theory worked for us ... My husband had said all along that he would like another boy, but his tears of joy when our little girl arrived made us realise that we had achieved what we always longed for'

4.0 out of 5 stars No margin for error 24 Sep 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Readers should note that this is an updated book of Hazel Phillips' original "Boy or Girl Your Right to Choose" and contains new findings from her research. Her methodology is now proven with a very high success rate (97%). BUT...this is not a book which you can pick up and glean a few tips from and think you know what to do. If you want to truly follow the methods outlined you have to do so to the letter and a few months of preparatory charting and findings will be necessary. Without this, you will either be disappointed or lucky! You need to read the book several times to ensure you are aware of all the critical factors involved.

2.0 out of 5 stars dissapointing outcome for our carelull planning 30 Jan 2002
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
with renewed hope we tried for a baby girl after having had 3 lovely boys. we carefully followed the instructions, charting for 6 months etc, then had our 4th boy! although I am pleased it made me go ahead and have another baby who is very lovely, I do think the book is too idealistic and perhaps more of the "failees' ought to let her know about it

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd like a pink one please! 29 April 2004
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
We have two lovely little boys and whilst we wouldn't change them for theworld, we really wanted a little girl to make our family complete. Afriend recommended this book and we bought a copy from Amazon lastsummer.
After keeping a record of my timings for six months, at Christmas wedecided to give it ago and we got pregnant the first month of trying!
I was a bit worried that it had happened so quickly as the author says itcan take a while to fall pregnant when trying specifically for a girl. However, much to our delight we had our 20 month scan last week and we areexpecting a girl.
Obviously nothing is definate until the baby is born and more thananything we just want a healthy baby, but the added bonus of that babybeing a pink one, is fantastic.
P.S My colleague at work used this book to try for a boy....James waschristened last weekend.

After having 3 boys I was desperate to have a daughter. At first, the book seemed rather confusing, however, if you are as determined as I was you soon become a 'dab hand' at reading, digesting and then putting it into practice! Hazel also puts in summary points at the end of each chapter, which is easily remembered. I did not feel it necessary to chart my temperature as I have always had the 'sticky mucus' which denotes ovulation. The main things we did were swapping my husbands boxer shorts for knickers - only having intercourse up to day 11 (I ovulated on days 14) and a lot of praying. I will never forget the sheer joy that I felt when I was told at my 20 week scan that I was carrying my much wanted baby girl! She was born on 08 April 2000 and it is just so different. Yeah ok, the pooh smell the same and the night feeds make you tired! but hey, she's a girl. I want another one now - a girl that is - so whether or not the method works is still open for debate - but it worked for me! It's worth stacking the odds isn't it - for the price of a paperback book!

5.0 out of 5 stars It worked for us! 12 Dec 2005

We already had a boy and I ideally wanted 'one of each'. We followed her method faithfully and now I'm expecting a girl! The timing method makes complete sense and we're delighted with the outcome. WELL worth a try.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very...Very....Very...HAPPY!!! 22 Jun 2012
By darling
Format:Paperback
I read the book after finding it on the library by chance...I was not even thinking about another child, my boy was 7 years old already and unless I could have a girl why start all again? Anyway I decided to borrow the book by curiosity and ended up by one here to try...I was very nervous but I follow all the advice including the sexy underwear for my husband...I got pregnant very quickly on the first try and I was very stressed about it as to have a girl can take much longer...well on my first scan a got the wonderful news...A girl just like We dreamed.
She is 3 years old now and 2 other friends tried the method and also got what they want...so me and my husband decided to try one more time...for another girl and I will do all again just like the book says. Could it be luck the first time? maybe..but would I take a chance this time and do it without the book?? I don't think so!
P.s: there is a revised version now...I will buy it to check...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!! 21 Dec 2010
By darling
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I brought this book for pure curiosity, I didn't really believed. After reading it I decided to try,the explanations and instructions made it very easy and fun. After all We had nothing to loose anyway, I had a lovely boy, yes, I would love a little girl...but another boy after 7 years would also make Us happy.
I did everything the book said, I mean everything even pursued my husband to wear the underwear...kkk. Guess what??? I have the most beautiful, adorable little girl, did it work? I can't say for sure, but would I recommend?? most definitely!!

2.0 out of 5 stars May help but not foolproof 23 Mar 2009
By Sue H
Format:Paperback
I read everything I could find on the internet and this book and Shettles to try to conceive a girl. I tracked my cycle and also did other things from the internet for the conception(reducing salt in diet, supplements). However none of it worked for me as we had a second beautiful baby boy, whom we love dearly but wasn't a girl as should have been from the methods described here. I still think it was worth a try but you have to be prepared to get the other sex baby and be happy. Also I don't believe the 97% success rate for something that is basically not proven by science and is at best unscientific.
