Lara is a kindergarten teacher in North Carolina, and she meets Ryan, a widower and his son (Justin). Lara and Ryan are attracted to each other, and Lara gets on with his son, and the story takes off from there.
it's a really sweet story, and its heartening to see that although the race issue came up, it wasn't among the under 40s, especially Ryan's friend Norris, because he took Lara and their relationship as is. Then, you have Shell, the ghost of Ryan's dead wife (it's not as cheesy as it sounds, honest!), who is only hung up on the fact that her husband is in a sort of stasis, and that he should get a jump on his lady love. nothing more.
It's the rare romance novel that makes you laugh out loud, and this one does.
It's only failing is that certain situations could have been avoided - like Lara's ex. That situation seemed a tad contrived and took away from the flow of the book somewhat and the characters could have been firmer (especially Ryan with his mum in law) and more Norris, please!
But it's a really sweet piece of writing. A pretty decent first novel. Brava, Ms Williams. Brava.

It is so good to finally read an interractical book that is well written, without spelling and grammical errors. I urge everyone who likes to read this genre to buy this book. Ms William wrote an excellent first novel. It is well written, it flows very well. The characters are wonderful,Ryan is a dream and Lara is superb.It was so good I didn't want to finish the book. I recommend this book for those who really like a good love story, there isn't too much sex, but that is not what this book is about. Excellent book Ms Williams, I look forward to reading more of your work.

There was no conflict or tension or dilemma; they meet, they fall in love and they're perfect for each other. Nowhere in the book is it explained WHY they're perfect for each other than that fact that they're both goodlooking and he's white,has a dead wife and is raising a son alone. On the subject of dead wives...the ghost plot was SO CHEESY! It has no place in a steamy romance. But then again, this isn't a steamy romance but just a very boring love story if you can call it that- the characters are too superficial. Maybe it gets better towards the middle-I didn't finish it. I'm surprised by the good reviews and I hope the other books by this author are more engaging as she's a good writer.
