Book Description

10 May 2012

When Tansy Poole inherits a run-down shoe shop tucked away in the village of Sticklepond, ‘Cinderella’s Slippers’ is born – providing the footwear to make any fairytale wedding come true…

Carrying everything a bride would want to walk down the aisle in, Tansy’s shop soon expands to carry shoe-themed wedding favours, bridesmaid gifts and even delicious chocolate shoes. It’s the dream destination for any shoe-lover!

If only everything in her personal life could be as heavenly – but with a fiancé trying to make her fit into a size 8 wedding dress, not to mention the recent discovery of disturbing family revelations, Tansy takes refuge in the shop’s success.

But one man isn’t thrilled by the stream of customers hot-footing it to Cinderella’s Slippers… Actor Ivo Hawksley, resident of the cottage next to the shop, is troubled by a dark secret in his past and has come to Sticklepond to nurse his own broken heart.

However, Ivo realises that he and Tansy have a link in their past and soon, they both find out how secrets shared can make a very strong bond indeed…

Forget the Jimmy Choos, Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues is the only accessory you need for spring 2012…

About the Author

Trisha lives in beautiful North Wales, together with the neurotic Border Collie recently foisted onto her by her student son and an equally neurotic but also vain, bad-tempered and chancy Muse. Her previous book, Twelve Days of Christmas, was a Sunday Times bestseller in 2010.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT! 12 May 2012
By Carol 'avid little bookworm' TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is only the second novel I've read by Trisha Ashley. My first was Twelve Days of Christmas (also excellent), unrelated to this novel, but I enjoyed her writing style so much I didn't hesitate to purchase this book.

Where do I start? I loved everything about this book and author from her wit and humour, not to mention her beautifully descriptive writing which had me completely hooked and chuckling the whole way through from start to finish. I love the girly humour, the wonderful shoe clock - ten past sparkly pink stiletto time, wonderful metaphors, the name of not only Cinderella's Slippers but other business names mentioned in the novel, complete gems. The writing is so believable, you can't help feeling that Trisha Ashley has marketed a business in the past (and if not, should do) and her writing on food is positively mouth watering!

Being new to the village of Sticklepond, the characters where also new to me but I soon got to know them all. I really liked Tansy, full of integrity and long suffering at the hands of her two 'ugly' step sisters, horrid and manipulative as well as the 'evil' mother-in-law to be, Mummy Dearest. Mummy Dearest has Tansy's wimpy fiance Justin tied to her apron strings and has no intention of letting go. I loved Aunt Nan's good old fashioned strength of character and no nonsense, just get on with it, attitude and the special relationship between her and Tansy.

Oh what a joy, I enjoyed it so much I almost read it straight through, stopping only to sleep and for absolute necessities! This was helped along by the short chapters - who doesn't love them, I just kept thinking I'll just read one more!! I absolutely recommend this brilliant witty novel and I'm now looking to read the other books featuring the Sticklepond residents.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good fun, entertaining to read 30 Nov 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Just the sort of book I enjoy to read for relaxation and entertainment. Nice gentle story, interesting characters, close enough to "real life" to be engaging. In keeping with the genre, not too many surprises. If you want a nice book to enjoy dipping in and out of, and finish feeling cheerful, treat yourself!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well written novel 13 Jun 2012
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Trisha Ashley has done it again! She has a smooth and humorous writing style; with characters that are believable and yet often surprising. In this story Tansy inherits a great aunts shoeshop and transforms it into a specialist wedding shoe shop! Her delightful assistant Bella is a joy! When an old flame moves into the cottage next door matters do not look auspicious! His curmudgeonly demeanour begins to thaw however with evening treats to thank him for walking Tansy's rather unusual but appealing hound. I encourage you to read this latest novel in the expectation that you will be in for a treat. The way to a mans heart may just be through the delicious food and rather alcoholic drinks Tansy conjours up!
