I was very excited when I got this book as the photos looked lovely and I know that Linda Collister's recipes are usually fool-proof. However, this is the American edition, which I've found very difficult to use. It refers to things like "one stick butter" (which I think is 120 grams), and fiddly measurements like 3/4 cup plus two tablespoons. Also, the terminology for the food is a little difficult - I think "bittersweet" is what we call dark chocolate.

I've tried to work out what the recipes mean in English (rather than American), but ended up with a disappointingly flat cake. So unless you are familiar with American recipes, then buy one of her UK editions. I find weight measurements so much easier!

This is really a great cookbook, the recipes were great, and they reallly worked. My brownies were perfectly set in the middle, the Missisippi Mud Pie was fantastic, as were the chocolate ice cream and the Devil's Food Pie. Before this cookbook, I'm not sure that I actually ever had a 24 cookie recipe before that actually made 24 cookies! This really is a great cookbook, I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone - after a few weeks of this book though, I'm not going anywhere near the weighing scales!
