Book Description

16 April 2012 An Emily Harris Mystery
Chocolate always makes things better, or so Emily Harris believes until even a dozen boxes of her favorite chocolates can’t put her world back together. Returning home from a trip to New Orleans, she is pushed down the airport’s arrival escalator, and despite evidence to the contrary, she believes the push was deliberate. If this weren’t enough her lawyer husband begins to act strangely, her oldest son brings a tramp home as his girlfriend, and two friends are murdered. Simple sayings from her childhood thread their way through her thoughts as she struggles to identify the common denominator, even as she is confined to her home, munching on chocolates. Filled with the warm southern ambiance and gentle humor that author, Annie Acorn, has made famous, you won’t want to miss this cliffhanger!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too Much Chocolate Can Make You Sick 31 Mar 2012

There is an entertaining story within the covers of this book; however, it is almost buried in a good deal of extraneous material and a confusing organization of material.
While I am not a fan of the multiple view approach, action from a diversity of viewpoints, the technique is well established. Here, however, it is hard to keep the characters straight, particularly when listening and not reading (by eye). In addition, the author seeks to replace true complication of plot with a coy sort of trickery by making purely innocent meetings seem to be possible clues to what is going on. For one reader, at least, this led to almost indifference to the outcome by the time we finally reached it.
I'm sure if Professor Harris, the heroine, in her role as English teacher, were to receive this manuscript, she would respond with a sharp comment: "cut, cut, cut. You have taken good characters and a decent plot and buried it in too much slush" ( or words with the same import in a more refined manner).
In sum, for the reader who likes getting an extended tale at very little cost, I can recommend this for its characters. The reader who is more attuned to the spare style of writers who no longer were paid by the word may suffer indigestion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet Another Reason to Love Chocolate! 14 Feb 2012
By bkogok - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Annie Acorn has given us yet another reason to love chocolate, with her latest mystery, Chocolate Can Kill! Loved following Emily Harris through all the twist and turns of this cliff hanger and trying to piece the solution together, but Annie fooled me in the end. I was totally hooked from the first paragraph forward and hated to turn the final page. I have no doubt that Annie's readers are already clamoring for the next Emily Harris mystery, meanwhile, I'll have to chance a piece of chocolate, even if chocolate can kill. Thanks Annie, now get that pen on the paper, your fans are waiting!

It was easy to figure out who the bad guy was. I also thought it was kind of repetitive. The main character keep going over and over who, if anybody, pushed her.
