Cho-Yung Weight Loss Tea is a pleasant tea to drink which to me tasted very like green tea, I found it to be very refreshing. Would I use it as part of a weight loss diet, to be fully honest I am not so sure. I have now used it a week though for me to give a full and frank review I think I would need to be taking this regularly for at least two weeks. Therefore I will come back next week and tell you all if I have lost any extra weight through using this product.
I started taking one cup of tea per day and then worked up to two cups of tea as detailed on the outside package as I was afraid of suffering the same symptoms as other reviewers. (I am a very bad sufferer of pain). I had no bad symptoms to report, I allowed my body to get used to it slowly.
I have listed the full ingredients according to the packet and what they are used for regarding weight loss(they all seemed to be used a lot in Chinese medicine) maybe this will help other customers.
1. Oolong Tea : Oolong Tea is very well known in China to be used for loosing weight, now it has become popular in the West and studies have taken place that they have proven that it is good for bones, teeth, lowering cholesterol and burning fat. Regular consuming of Oolong tea is reported to speed up your metabolism.
2. Lotus Leaf : Lotus Leaf has been known to slow the absorption of fat and carbohydrates. Though there is a warning with lotus leaf it can affect bleeding therefore pregnant women are warned to keep away from Lotus Leaf. There is a warning on the packet which the tea comes in that the tea is not intended for pregnant women. Also because lotus leaf affects bleeding those patients taking asprin or warfarin(any medication to thin blood) should not take this either. I feel there should be a warning on this tea about this. Though there is no label on the tea saying the actual quantity level of lotus leaf is in the tea therefore the manufacturer might not have to put this warning on the tea for this reason.
3. Hawthorn Fruit : These are used a lot for heart and blood pressure problems. Though the Chinese are reported to use hawthorn fruit to help digest fatty foods and blood circulation. It is also used to remove bad cholesterol from the bloodstream. The chinese also dry the fruit and sugar them and they are used as a treat. They are also good supplier of Vitamin C. It is also used to help digest fats and meat.
4. Alisma Rhizome : This is used as a diuretic to remove excess fluid from the body. It is also an ingredient in a Chinese diet called the Astra 18 Diet which is supposed to be very popular in China and other Asian countries.
5. Cassia Seed : This has a lot of uses but for the weight loss the only thing that I could see it is used as a laxative. This also should be avoided by pregnant women as it can cause muscle spasms which could affect the uterus, and also reduce blood pressure. Once again the quantity of this is not shown on the packet. It is known to cause gas, diarrohea and nausea. Which I know a lot of reviewers complained about.
6. Gynostemma Pentaphyllum : The Chinese and surrounding Asian countries use this a lot in weight control it works on sugar and carbohydrates and instead of both being stored as fat this herb converts both into energy. It also works on the bowel(laxative) as well as many other parts of the body.
7. Poria : This also is used as a diuretic, and rids the body of excess fluid.
When I studied more into the ingredients they are mostly all used as either a laxative or diuretic. I would then consider the tea to be used at the start of a detox. So maybe it could be used if you were going on holiday and wanted to loose a couple of pounds too look good on the beach.
I do not know whether or not I would recommend this for a long term diet. It states on the packet that the manufacturer does recommend eating less and moving more which is the best advice anyone can follow to loose weight the correct healthy way and to keep the extra weight off. There are also recipes to make milkshakes and cool drinks which I have not tried. The tea does come in a very good re-sealable foil packet which does keep the tea fresh and dry, also each tea bag is individually wrapped. Until next week when I will let you all know if I loose the inches even millimetres!!
1st July 2011. I have now being drinking the tea exactly two weeks. For the first four days I drank one cup per day, on the fifth day I upped my intake and started too drink two cups per day. I am happy to report I have lost 4.5 lbs and I am happy enough with that. I do think it could be fluid which I have lost so therefore I am going to drink the tea for another two weeks which means I will purchase a packet of tea-bags to see if the weight loss is actual fat I am loosing and not all fluids.
I would still recommend the Cho-Yung Weight Loss tea bags for those that have a special holiday coming up or even a special occasion when they would like too loose a bit of weight off to look better in a bikini or nice outfit. For those that would have a lot of weight to loose, to be truthful I would recommend the tea bags to start the diet or even if you have been on a diet for a while and have hit a plateau and cannot seem to move the weighing scales in the right direction.
I did try the teabags for a further period of 6 weeks and have lost a further 3.5kgs. I have been following a calorie controlled diet. But I did feel that the tea bags work better if you take a break from them. As I did notice while taking them for 8 weeks without a break I felt personally the weight loss was starting to slow down. Therefore I still would recommend these teabags but for only short periods of time with a break in between. I still believe they are excellent for a detox, for kick starting a diet or for a holiday and you want to look better in your bikini. This is my own personal opinion.
