Product Description

The eighth book in The Pennyfoot Hotel Mystery Series is now out as an eBook!

The Pennyfoot hides many secrets and its downstairs staff keeps a tight lip, even when the Edwardian aristocrats are spotted dallying with damsels in the boudoirs, or gambling in the forbidden card rooms hidden below the floorboards. Should now and then one of the hotel guests fall prey to a dastardly murderer, however, it is up to Cecily Sinclair to restore order before Scotland Yard steps in and shuts down her infamous seaside hotel.

Excitement is rife in the English village of Badgers End. A jousting tournament is to be held at the Pennyfoot Hotel in honor of St. George’s Day. The downstairs staff is busy with the preparations, while upstairs Cecily makes sure her guests are aware of the festivities. What she has to hide, however, is the death of a footman, killed by one of the jousting lances. Someone got ahead of the competition and Cecily must find out who that is, before terror reigns at the tournament.

The twenty-first and final Pennyfoot book, MULLED MURDER, one of Kingsbury’s beloved Christmas editions, was published in November 2013 by Berkley Books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pennyfoot murder. 4 Oct. 2013

I love this author, and have all of the Pennyfoot Hotel series so far. These are a cozy mystery and are great to curl up with for a good read. I love the fact that while there is a murder in the book, there isn't any blood and gore or swearing in them at all, making a good read for all ages, teens to 90 year olds!

4.0 out of 5 stars Truly a relaxing, enjoyable series 30 Oct. 2014

I have found this series to be a "comfort" read for me since I discovered the series and this one was no exception.

In a bit of a twist, in addition to a dead body turning up at the Pennyfoot Hotel, one of the young guests disappears leaving her parents frantic. As always, the owner of this remote and quaint hotel in England finds herself involved in trying to solve both mysteries as the local police are inept with no sense of urgency.

The characters are delightful and the read is an easy one that still kept my attention.

For fans of cozy mysteries, particularly those set in England during a more gentle time, I would highly recommend this series and encourage you to start at the beginning. Each installment is strong and the series isn't losing steam in my humble opinion.
2.0 out of 5 stars let me start by saying I LOVE this series of books 16 Sept. 2014

let me start by saying I LOVE this series of books.Up to now they have been GREAT mystery reads, and all the secondary story lines are wonderfully tangled and then untangles etc. BUT this one did not live up to the others at all. I saw that it got all 5 stars, which surprised me,
Because to me it almost felt like someone else wrote this one. Especially the words she put in the child's mouth--sounded like an adult talking, not a 9 year old. I've read all the books before this one, and they are simply marvelous,,,,, just not this one. sorry. That said..I cannot WAIT to get started on the next one...

I know that each Pennyfoot Hotel book will be as good a read as the last. The mystery of the story is always top-notch. I read them in the order they were written to keep up with the ongoing lives of the staff. I cannot wait to get the book in the series.
