I've always been a fan of Chita's work on Broadway. From her groundbreaking performance as Anita in the original cast of "West Side Story" to her turn opposite Dick Van Dyke in "Bye Bye Birdie," to "Chicago" in the 1970s and everything else beyond. I discovered this CD, though, a two-fer containing the tracks from two solo albums she recorded in 1961 and 1962 and they're great. Chita has a classic Broadway contralto and she knows what to do with a song.
This work has been out of print for a long time, but I'm glad they found it and put it out. It's great fun!
