Book Description

America loves Chi! Japan's latest kitty phenomenon is rising up the U.S. charts and has quickly become a publishing sensation. Presented in full-color and left-to-right format, Chi and her collection of furry and feathery friends are back
with more adventures for readers of all ages to enjoy this summer.

Chi is a michievous newborn kitten who on a leisurely stroll with her family finds herself lost and alone. Seperated from the warmth and protection of her mother, desperately attempts to reunite with her family of feral cats. When the kitten feels all hope is lost, she is found in a park by a young boy named Yohei and his mother. After taking a tumble Yohei feels just as distraught as the kitten he sees before him, and he quickly takes comfort in feeling a sense of sympathy with the cat. And before she could even know what hit her, the little kitty was picked up and soon under the protection and care of Yohei's family--the Yamadas. Every moment of their daily life is filled with something we can all cherish.

In the latest volume of Chi's Sweet Home, the titular kitten takes to the streets with unbridled curiosity. Exploring her new surroundings she encounters countless new friends, including another young feline named Cocchi. This new kitty comrade opens up a whole new world for our star. Prior to this encounter she had a mild awareness of what it was like to be a cat. To Chi, she was Chi and the Yamada's were her clan. But now with another one of her kind clearly there, she is more willing than ever to accept that a cat's world is one that she should be and will eventually be a part of. So while on a rare night excursion, our furry heroine reunites with an old friend and is introduced to a world where a whole community of cats of all shapes and sizes congregate in the twilight. This reunion with her mentor Blackie allows Chi to slowly move closer and closer to that long awaited reunion with her own cat family. Even if she is no longer searching for her own original home it is suddenly closer than it's ever been.

Blurb:
"That li'l runt named Chi is nothing but trouble. For some reason she doesn't seem to know her place when dealing with more mature felines. Heck, she might not even know she is a cat at all! But for a little one she sure does know how to get around. She isn't afraid to head off into the night, either, for after-hours feline furloughs. Maybe Chi's not that bad of a tabby after all. With some proper feline influence she could eventually be a little less annoying... maybe not."

news special

Additional Information:
In the back of the book there's something called the "news special", as I listed in the contents above. There are two main parts to this. Here's a bit more detail - 1. A single page outlying the Chi's Sweet Home anime, and where you can watch it online for free- a site endorsed by the creator and not pirated. The site is called "crunchyroll". I've personally watched the anime on this site and it is brilliant quality, fully subtitled in English, not to mention adorable. 2. Chi's neighbours and their humans. This section of the news special is of sketches of all Chi's neighbours, and the humans they live with- statistics and information included. It is 2 pages long.

4.0 out of 5 stars Chi Get's Angry 1 Feb. 2014
Format:Paperback
It's getting hard to say anything different about each volume as each one is as pleasing as the last. There is no plot, nothing really happens other than a series of events but it is all so sweet, realistic, cute and amusing. I've gotten used to Chi's character now and don't actually laugh out loud anymore but I'm still smiling and chuckling to myself at her realistic feline reactions. This volume mostly takes place outside as Chi explores the neighbourhood meeting up with the neighbourhood pets and Chi is introduced to another kitten who isn't as friendly as she is. When in the house Chi is becoming quite active now and causing quite a bit of trouble. Chi is not just lovable anymore either; she has an angry side which frequently shows its face this volume but she's just as cute when she's angry! Four more volumes to go in the series but taking a little break now so I can come back to them refreshed. Highly recommend this series though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super cute and great for all ages...we finally see Chi get angry... 29 Mar. 2014
By K. Eckert - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This was another adorable volume in the Chi’s Sweet Home series. This is a great series that is cute and funny and wonderful for all ages of readers.

Chi has settled into her new home and is now starting to explore around. She meets a number of new cats, including Cocchi who is the first kitten around her age she has ever known. Chi is starting to realize that a cat is something different and separate from the people she lives with.

This book is full of hilarity and cuteness just like all of the rest. Chi learns about vacuum cleaners and how to push things down stairs. The Yamada family learns about cat-proofing the house. Many of these scenes had my whole family laughing out loud.

We see a new less warm and fuzzy side to Chi in this book as well, Cocchi is kind of a bratty, angry cat. Chi has moments of anger too and is not always happy and cute. Okay, well she is still pretty cute when she’s angry….

The illustration is wonderful just like with the previous installments. Both cat and human emotion is portrayed well.

This is one of my 7 year old son’s favorite series to read still. At night before he goes to bed he always comes bouncing into the room with the latest Chi’s Sweet Home book, “Can we read Chi tonight? Can we!?”

Overall another wonderfully hilarious and cute Chi book. My whole family really enjoys these. I would definitely recommend this whole series to cat lovers of all ages.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Cute! 7 July 2013
By Kumiko!?! - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The books are in full color and the chapters are kept short, so it's like reading the weekend comics from the newspaper! The only thing I didn't like was that the book was 'flopped', meaning it's been reprinted from it's right to left format (Japanese) to a left to right one (English). It however, doesn't bother me enough that I wouldn't buy the next volume!
