Product Description

Book Description

Bathsheba Clarice de Trop thinks she's a star. Well, her mum is a world-famous novelist whose books are all about the amazing adventures of her fabulous daughter, and of course the stories must be true. But when Bathsheba is confronted by her down-and-out father, and discovers that her role in the fantastic new Bathsheba film will be played by hot US actress Avocado Dieppe, she has to face reality. She might not be as famous as she liked to think, but maybe she can still be a star in her own right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming, 28 Feb 2008
By ML Jensen (Bath, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is not at all what I expected when I started reading. It looks like a simple diary for quite young readers but it is so much more. The cheerful first person narrative hides a wealth of self deception which dawns on the reader before the main character works it out for herself. And when she does it is touchingly sad, but then becomes delightful as Bathsheba begins to sort her life out. It remains charming and innocent throughout but there are nonetheless some life lessons in the story. I can't recommend this book warmly enough. It should appeal to girls of 7-12.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome a new teenage heroine!, 22 Mar 2008
I bought this without knowing quite what to expect, but was delighted by what I read. Once I'd got to the end of it, the best bit of news was that Leila Rasheed is already working on the next one, so we can find out more about "Bath"'s alternately amazing and engaging life.

The story bounces along at a nice pace, and the jokes and clever happenings seem to be queuing up for your attention. At the centre of the whirling world Bathsheba inhabits, though, is a genuinely engaging and believable character.

I highly recommend this book, especially for older children, but also for anyone who fancies some memorable laughs, meeting some memorable characters, and reading a writer who clearly enjoyed herself while she was writing the book.

Top notch stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Bathsheba, 9 May 2009
A Kid's Review
Bathsheba's diaries are fabulous for children 8-10yrs. In this book she takes us through her life, I've read the first 2 books and I love them. I can't wait for the 3rd one to come out and I advise you to read them too. I think really girly girls will like this book because Bathsheba thinks and acts like a girly girl.
