4.0 out of 5 stars A great overview of the most popular styles in the UK, 25 Oct 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Chinese Masters of Kung Fu [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I really enjoyed this tape. It offers a selection of interviews and footage from several masters currently teaching in the UK, covering Mantis, Wing Chun, Lau, Tiger/Crane and other animal/shaolin derived styles as well as a chi gung demonstration.

The style is amateur documentary, but its still informative and interesting to watch.

Be warned, anyone looking for explosive action set pieces will be disappointed by the relaxed grace which most of the proponents demonstrate during their forms.

Buy this tape if you are looking for a kung fu style to suit your personality, or if you are already learning a style, and you want to find out more about comparitive schools and techniques. The main benefit for anyone already learning one of these styles is that you'll get an insight into the person at the top, which is useful if you're unlikely to meet them until you grade for black sash. Also, the next time your sifu yells at you to relax, you'll know what to aim for.
