Product Description

Synopsis

Chinese chess, or 'elephant chess', has intrigued game lovers for centuries. Similar in form to its well-known Western cousin, the Chinese game requires players to master subtle and fascinating variations of strategy. H. T. Lau introduces Chinese chess to Westerners, discussing issues such as the board, the movement and values of the pieces, and basic rules for capturing and defeating an opponent with the aid of 170 diagrams.

I bought this book to learn the game and play on the internet. The author gives a thorough explanation of the pieces, movement, rules, tacics and strategy for playing the game. It's a wonderful help for a beginner/intermediate player and thanks for all the example games included to give the reader added confidence in play and game notation. BUY THIS BOOK AND LEARN THIS GAME!! It's a very different spin to chess.....

Chinese chess an old and fun game. 30 Nov 2008
By E. Tai - Published on Amazon.com
A solid game overall, simple to use but could use an advice system when learning the game. Perhaps a system of teaching players in different situations so they can hone their skills would be helpful.
