This Took My Breath Away, That Doesn't Happen Everyday, 17 May 2007
While this collection is the oldest and least comprehensive of all the China Crisis Best Of's and Collections you can get, it's probably the best of them.
This was released 17 years ago, at the end of the bands career with Virgin. All the singles you'd expect are here: "Christian", "Wishful Thinking", "Black Man Ray" and "King In A Catholic Style". You also get some singles you may have missed first time around "Working With Fire & Steel", "Arizona Sky" and "You Did Cut Me". On first release this collection came with a bonus CD of b-sides, etc, which was fantastic.
Shucks, I miss you guys.

Pleasantly suprising!, 30 Jun 2009
I first heard this album when I was a kid in the 1990's whilst on holiday where my dad had copied the CD on to casette allowing use to listen to it in the car, and what can I say, I loved it then, but now rediscovering it more than a decade later, I can say the songs are stil as good.
The album consists of a wide variety of songs that are made up of China Crisis's own unique style. My personal favourites are Tradegy and Mystery and King in a Catholic Style, but I must say there isn't a bad song on the album.
It is a crying shame that China Crisis never had the success they deserved and that they are now relatively unknown. It remains a mystery why similar bands such as Aha had great successes and China Crisis, although they had hit singles and albums, they have disappeared.
But as long as this collection is available there music will live on, well worth a listen. A true forgotten 80's band!

Crisis What Crisis., 1 Dec 2008
I bought this when it was first released in 1990,then it was a limited edition with two discs,I don't think I have ever played the second disc in 18 years. So you won't have that problem.
I think China Crisis were a singles band for me,although they did have hit albums.I bought a synth compilation in 1982, which had on it African and White, which did'nt make the charts. Then later that year I saw them on TOTP performing Christian, excellent song I bought that on a 12 inch single.
When this best of was released I was still really only aware of Black Man Ray,King In A Catholic Style and the two songs in the last paragraph.Oh and also Wishful Thinking, suddenly came back to me as I was typing.
The Eighties are the big thing at the moment, with reunion tours, remastered cds and free cds in the sunday papers. If you don't know this band then for this price take a gamble,I still play the tracks I bought it for.
