My child is just learning to play games (at 3.5) and all that goes with it - taking turns, following rules, not having a meltdown if she loses etc
This game is an interesting addition to her games cupboard.
And at £5 on offer, it is good value.
The idea of the game is to be the first to make 3 pairs of socks. Each player is dealt 3 socks to start. They take turns pulling "socks" out of a "washing machine". If it matches one of their socks, they add the pair to the "laundry basket", and pick again. If they pull out an "underpant", they lose a turn.
What you get in the game:
- a 3D cardboard "front-loading washing machine" - about 8 in x 6 in x 4 in. It has a hole for the front lid, from where you are meant to pull out a sock
- 16 pairs of socks - made of sturdy card, bright interesting patterns, a lot of them have glitter etc to make them interesting in texture.
- 4 underpants - I love this silly addition to the game - my daughter hates it though - and will not play the game if these are included!
- 4 3D laundry baskets made of card in 4 colours
The game packaging is over-large and difficult to open. But all the parts fit into the washing machine, so we use that to store the game.
It is hard for adult fingers to pull out a sock from the washing machine. We lay it down on its back and play, shaking the box before a turn.
It's not a LOT of fun; sometimes it seems like it takes forever to finish a game (even after removing some pairs of socks)
The cards are fairly sturdy and if played with carefully, should be quite durable.
