Product Description

Review

"A brave and intriguing novel which showcases Kia Abdullah's
vivid imagination and flair for suspense." --Thomas Perry, NY Times Bestselling Author

"Refreshingly different... Abdullah's portrayal of an emotionally claustrophic protagonist who becomes enthralled in a world beyond the realms of the ordinary sets her apart from the writers of her generation."
--Farhana Shaikh, The Asian Writer

Product Description

From young Muslim author Kia Abdullah comes a sharp, sexual thriller that challenges clichés and moral boundaries...

25-year-old Allegra Ashe has an adoring boyfriend, a loving family and thriving career, but a disturbing job offer from an alluring stranger threatens to shatter her seemingly perfect life.

She becomes entangled with Vokoban, a classified government unit that tests the limits of the law in trying to catch society's worst offenders: paedophiles. Allegra's life spirals out of control and we find ourselves voyeurs in a perverse world of lust, danger, deceit and revenge. A tale of twisted sexuality and tortured morality, Child's Play places a telescope into the darkest recesses of the human mind and invites the reader to take a look.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretentious babble - don't waste your money, 3 July 2011

This review is from: Child's Play (Paperback)
The first book in a very long time I was unable to force myself to read to the end. Leave this one well alone. Over 200 pages of pretentious, annoying and amateurishly written prose.

1.0 out of 5 stars Devoid of empathy, 7 July 2011
This review is from: Child's Play (Paperback)
I had heard good reviews about his book, but was personally very disappointed. I found that the speculation around the author's risky treatment of the subject matter were unfounded, in fact there was little emotional depth or profound analysis throughout the narrative.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a recommended read, 3 July 2011
This review is from: Child's Play (Paperback)
After reading the 5 star reviews here on Amazon I thought I would give this book a try; operative word being try here. I wasn't able to read this until the end, like a fellow reviewer here says 'pretentious and annoying.' A dull read. Don't waste your time
