    4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Story 12 Mar 2014
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Nico, the leader of ‘The Eagle Street Gang’ is in for a surprise when a young girl called Sophie introduces herself. Nico is still at that age where girls aren’t that particularly interesting, but could Sophie be able to show him a thing or two?

As Nico tries to show Sophie why boys are better than girls and that he won’t introduce her to his friends he comes up against a woman’s wiles. As any adult who reads this will soon notice, Sophie may still be a chit of a girl but she is already developing the skills of a woman as Nico finds himself clearing up and then pulling Sophie around on his paper route. Little girls especially will love this story and I am sure more than one adult will have a laugh whilst reading this to them.

On a tablet device the illustrations are in colour and you can enlarge the page although to be honest it is clear enough as it is. On a standard Kindle e-reader obviously the illustrations will appear in black and white, but they are clear, and the text is nice and large. Ideal to read to your little ones, and for them to follow along with.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book for boys and girls 2 Oct 2013
By Edel King - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition
As a mother of two sons, I recognise them both so much in Nico when they were younger! My daughter loved this book and laughed heartily throughout, though it gives a good boost to young girls' self esteem and image , young boys would do well to read this also, as Nico learns quite a lot about his new neighbour , a little girl, in this richly illustrated story. She surprises Nico at every turn with her skill and fearless approach, and can do everything he can do , no problem at all to her. It is written with great pace, and manages to maintain momentum throughout which keeps the young readers' attention. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for beginning readers 1 Oct 2013

This is a very entertaining story that young children will enjoy reading. Nico, like most boys, has a lot of misconceived notions of what girls are like and what they can and cannot do. His neighbor, Sophie, proves him wrong. The book is filled with lots of great illustrations that bring the story to life.

I've read two stories in this series, and both were a lot of fun to read. The stories are original, and the graphics are perfect. Any child will enjoy these books, and parents would do well to follow the series. I know I will!

    5.0 out of 5 stars Fun children`s book 25 Sep 2013
By Suspense and Thriller Lover - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition
This children`s book can be read to girls but I think it's really the perfect book for boys. The reason I liked this book is because it's so honest about the way boys and girls really are. Nick is a little boy who of course, doesn't like girls. He thinks girls can't do anything right. But when he meets his new neighbor who is a little girl, she proves him wrong. The illustrations are well done and it is written well too. There is a picture on every page which was nice. So many kindle kids books separate the pictures from the text so my kid is always asking where the pictures is. Not with this one. My kid liked that and it helped keep his attention.
5.0 out of 5 stars What's a Young Boy to do When the New Neighbour is a Girl and She Wants to Hang Out With Him and His Friends 3 Mar 2014
By James N Simpson - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the second book in this series I've read and have to say I'm quite impressed with it. This one does give a couple of pages introducing characters of the neighbourhood this world is set in, which is a little weird if you were reading it without knowing a thing about the others, as those characters aren't actually in this one at all. The only other character besides the main kid Nico, is a new neighbour, a young blond girl. She wants him to introduce her to his friends, Nico of course doesn't want to, as well you know she's a girl, and in his eyes the clearly inferior gender. Girls can't do anything boys can do is his motto. Of course he couldn't be more wrong. I really liked his neighbour character and hope she returns for other books in the future.

If you are unfamiliar with this series, basically each story has the look of a comic book but has written text between the illustrations rather than speech bubbles which is much better for kids learning to read. The illustrations remind me of Denis the Menace, Family Circus, Casper the Ghost and other from, well I don't know the 1950s or whenever they were around.
