Product Description

Product Description

Dear God, Maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other so much if they had their own rooms. It works with my brother. Dear God, Who draws the lines around the countries? Dear God, On Halloween I am going to wear a devil's costume. Is that all right with you? These and other puzzlements, imponderables, fervent wishes, complaints and thanks make up this delightful collection. Some of the children's views are disarmingly wise, some naive; some are purposeful and determined, some innocent; some serious, others a little more light-hearted. But all are written in the utmost hope that their letters will be answered in one way or another. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

From the Author

From the Introduction:
'The letters in this book express that part of a child's world reserved for special thoughts and wishes. The subject matter ranges through those beliefs, desires, questions and doubts that are urgent and common to all children. Some of the letters are disarmingly wise, others naive;some are knowing, some simple;some reverent, some not so reverent. Many are weighted with seriousness;others are lit with smiles. All of them are addressed to God with much hope and trust.

Grownups know for certain, of course, that the letters will not get there no matter how much postage they carry. But then grownups know so much more than children- sometimes.

In choosing these letters, we've tried to convey the incredible variety they represent. Their spelling and grammar have not been corrected, for what they say they say better as they are.' --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

If anyone doubts the sagacity of the kids, peruse through this little gem and realize once again to what curiosity inevitably concludes. This book, in my humble opinion, shouldn't be ignored by those weary of potential dogmatism; these are prescient, unhindered, spontaneous children after all. And at any rate, these really aren't questions of faith so much as those niggling questions or conundrums we all troubled over in youth. Buy this book and throw those overwrought and illogical coffee "tomes" to the wayside.

In the book, Childrens Letters to God, I found a new love of children. In this book, children under the age of ten share their innermost thoughts with God. The innocence of them all!! I was almost in tears at the thought that one day I was saying the same things. Even though the words are sparse, the meanings are deep.

Some people may not see the beauty in this book, but it is the sweetest thing I've ever read. Kids share their thoughts on how they think that God should have done things diferently, and how they want to know things like where babies come from and what they want done with their problems, and all sorts of things. I just fell in love with this book, and with the kids who wrote their very own, unique letters to God.

This book is small in size but big in enjoyment. The letters that these children have written to god are wonderful. They show how a child thinks and the naivety and wiseness with which they think. Who would have thought to ask god who does his job when he goes on vacation? This will bring a smile to your face from the moment you open the first page, and I highly recommend it to grown ups of all ages!
