this is a cute bedtime trinket for children. it contains well known childrens stories from all over the world, including japan, china, germany ect. the stories range from well known proverbs to fairytales. my five year has enjoyed listening to the sometimes strange but always amusing stories, especially the one about the boy called tikki tikki tembo.

My grand-son Jason was sick recently and enjoyed hearing some of these stories during the day. As they were on my Kindle I was able to turn on the story telling feature and not get tired reading to him myself. All the stories were new to him and different.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not for little ones 19 Jun. 2011
By Judy Lupone - Published on Amazon.com
I read the free samples and they are fun and adventurous, but make sure your kid is old enough for talk of corpses hanging from trees and skinning children, trying to kill them by drowning (a baby!) and so on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining! 28 Sept. 2013

This book is a pretty good choice for a child who is read to on a regular basis. The stories are short enough to read to a child as "bedtime" stories, but very original, although somewhat old-fashioned. My six-year-old daughter finds the stories very entertaining .

5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection, some olde english teething problems 4 Dec. 2013

Great collection of stories though I must say the english is quite of the "olde" variety at times that clashes with what you expect to read, as if there's been no editing since the Grimm brothers compilation! My kids love the stories so far.

Wanted something to read to my granddaughter while she stayed with us. It's ok, but I'm not sure that I'd recommend it.
