More About the Author

Diane Major was born in Horden, a coal mining village in County Durham and now lives in Houghton-le-Spring, England. She went back into Education as a mature student when she gained her professional qualification, as well as a degree. Diane spent most of her working career managing Youth Work, Community Development, or Adult Learning. While Diane always wanted to write books, she only found the time to 'put pen to paper' when she approached retirement. Diane would have loved to publish the traditional way. However, like so many others found she had to self publish. Diane now spends her time with family, writing, gardening and fundraising for a local charity.

The books Diane has written include fantasy adventure, science fiction and fairy tales. She has written in these genres, with the hope that her stories will take you away from everyday life, if only for as long as it takes you to read one of them.

Diane has published a variety of novels for adults, young adults and children.

About the Author

I have worked with people from various backgrounds and of all ages throughout my life. Working with the community and other professional people has given me a wealth of knowledge that is required to write books. I did not fair well at the Grammar School I attended as a child and then returned to education as a mature student in my 30's, gaining a professional qualification in Youth and Community work. Towards the end of my career I gained an BSc Open Degree with Hons and then did a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management. The majority of my working career has been in Community Development, Adult Learning and Youth Work and I am now retired. While working I loved seeing both staff and service users grow into more confident and skilled individuals through their informal as well as formal education. Life is a struggle for many people and I chose to write as sometimes we need some sort of escapism and I hope my writing can provide just that. I was brought up in Horden in the North East of England which during my childhood was a thriving mining community until its demise in the early 1980's. In 1980 my family moved to Houghton le Spring and finally in 2011 my husband and I moved to Newbottle a nearby village. On a personal level I have been happily married for over 35 years. I have two daughters who I am very proud of as they have both, against all odds brought up children on their own while gaining a degree as well as professional employment. I adore my two grandchildren. The oldest is Luke who has struggled throughout his school life as he has dyslexia but never gave in and is currently at college. My other grandchild is Darcy who is an intelligent but typical teenage girl.

I was given the suggestion to read this book by a work colleague who knows the Author, and downloaded it after seeing positive reviews and being curious about reading a self published work. To be honest I was not expecting great things, and am happy to say that I have been very pleasantly surprised. The premise is one of the most original I have read in a good few years and the scope of the story is much bigger than I expected both in time and in the changes the central character goes through. I will be reading more from this writer.

Having read and enjoyed 'I Am Nine', I was curious to pick up Diane Major's first novel, 'Children of Fury'.

Whereas 'I Am Nine' dealt with a post-apocalypic world, this novel is firmly set in mythology. Ms Major takes as a starting point the Furies of Greek legend and weaves a tale of Immortals spanning several centuries.

Heron, the son of a Fury, is tasked with exacting revenge on humanity for its betrayal of the Greek Gods - a mission on which he embarks with relish. For Heron is a soul-stealer, who also has the power to turn humans into Furies. The immortal, however, seriously misjudges the grit of his protegee, Aimee, who in turn becomes bent on punishing her Maker.

The author's fable ranges across space and time, from sixteenth century England and Scotland, to America and France. It is at its heart a love story, though one fuelled by vengeance.

'Children of Fury' is an smooth and imaginative read, aimed primarily at young adults, although adult vampire lovers are also likely to enjoy it.

Talent fantasy author Diane Major brings immortals to life. The immortal Heron arises from the worst possible turmoil lasting thousands of years. During the 1400s in England our hero meets Aimee who thinks she already met her soul mate. As she faces retribution, she senses a new kind of protection. Can we expect this unlikely couple to find love between them?

Easily one of my new favourites for this year. I found it hard to believe this was a first novel. The characters were amazing and I couldn't stop reading, a great story from start to finish. If you haven't read it yet, you should.

Amazing from beginning to end, highly recommend.

This book was such a pageturner and I really enjoyed it.

Outstanding, you are promised to escape and escape I did. I was unable to put it down. Well written with perfect descriptions that meant I was taken on the characters journey and felt their emotion. I am looking forward to reading the next book and would recommend it to anyone who likes to immerse themselves in a story.
